Traditional Dutch Apple Cake

1. Cream together ……………...8 T butter


6 T sugar.

2. Add and mix until smooth …..1 egg


f.d lemon essence

3. Sift together ………………….1¼ c flour


1¼ t B.P.

4. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed ingredients


alternately with
…………………………………2 T milk.

5. Spread the mixture in a greased baking dish.


Cover the top with……………sliced apple.

6. Sprinkle over the apple …….1 T sugar


½ t cinnamon.

7. Bake at 200°C for 30 minutes until golden and


completely cooked.

Dutch Apple Cake

2. Stir into the flour …… 6 T sugar.

3. Rub into the flour…. .. 8 T butter.

4. Beat together ……… 1 egg

5. Prepare topping …… 1 apple grated


2 D brown sugar
½ t cinnamon.

6. Mix liquid and dry ingredients together.

Spread mixture into greased 20cm round


cake tin.

7. Spread over the topping.

8. Bake at 200°C for 20 - 30 mins.


Plaited Loaf

Homemade Short Pastry


1. Sift into bowl ……………. ½ C flour
½ t B.P.
pinch of salt.

2. Rub in ……………………. 3 T butter.

3. Measure …………………. 2 T water.

4. Stirring with a knife, slowly add enough water


to form a soft dough.

5. Roll out as desired.


Bake at 200°C until cooked.(15-20 mins)

Filling ……..for 2 people


Mix together ……………….. 2 sausages
Finely chopped onion
Grated carrot
1 D tomato sauce

Self Sauce Chocolate Pudding

1. Melt together …………….½ c milk


2 T butter.
f.d. vanilla essence

2. Add …………………………½ c sugar.

3. Sift onto plate …………… 1 c flour


2 t cocoa
1 t B.P.
4. Stir the flour into the milk mixture to form a thick
dough.

5. Put the mixture into a greased microwave dish.


Pour over the topping.
Topping
Mix together …………….. 2 T coconut
½ c sugar
2 t cocoa
2 c hot water.
( Cooking times in Microwave ovens vary according to the num-
ber of Watts. It is best to try a short time first and this will help
you judge the length of time you will need)

Pizza Pockets

1. Mix together …………… ½ c tepid water


1 t sugar.
Sprinkle over the top …. 1½ t yeast

Leave this yeast mixture to grow.


Stand it in hot water or in a warm place
Until the mixture forms a froth.

2. Sift into a bowl …………..1½ c flour


1 t B.P.
pinch of salt.
Make a well in the flour.
3. Add the yeast with ………3 t oil.
Stir with a wooden spoon to form a soft
Dough. Set aside for 10-30 mins to rise.

4. Turn the dough onto a floured table and


knead until smooth and elastic.

5. Roll into 2 circles and place on filling.


Fold over and seal the edges with water.

7. Bake at 200°C until golden brown.

pieces, grated cheese………..
*Use the yeast dough to make a pizza base.
Pizza Omelet

1. Scrub and cook ………….1 potato.


Cut the cooked potato into small cubes.

2. Beat lightly ………………..2 eggs.


Add the diced potato.

3. Prepare topping …………. Grated cheese


Diced bacon
Chopped onion
Tomato, celery,
Capsicum…. .

4. Heat in frypan ……………. 1 D oil.


Pour in egg mixture, cook gently until set.

5. Sprinkle topping over the egg mixture.


Place under the grill until topping is cooked.
Grill at 200°C

6. Serve hot, cut into wedges. Serves 2


Mock Chicken Leg
1..Mix together……………1 T wholemeal flour
Pinch of herbs
½ t Chicken stock
2 t tomato sauce
¼ chopped onion
2 skinned sausages

2. Using wet hands, shape the mixture around


Ice block sticks to look like chicken legs.

3. Roll chicken legs in ….. 1 T breadcrumbs.

4. Bake at 200°C for 15-20 minutes.


Check meat is cooked well. Makes 2

One Pan Dinner
1. Melt in frypan …………… Knob of butter

2. Sautė . ………. ………… ¼ chopped onion

3. Add to the pan …. ………½ C mince.


Brown the mince stirring all the time

4. Add the mixture of ………½ pkt soup mix


pinch of herbs
1½ C hot water.
5. When mixture is boiling,
stir in …………………… ¾ C pasta.

6. Bring the mixture to boil,


stir in ……………………. ¾ C vegetables.

7. Cover the pan and simmer the mixture until


pasta is cooked. Serves 2-3

* Try other meats …chicken stir-fry, pork pieces, fish, bacon

* Garnish with...grated cheese, chopped parsley, salami,


Spring onion, capsicum, cashew nuts……..

* Use more vegetables. Leave out the meat.

* Use ‘Maggi” soup packets. Cup of Soup packets can be used


for other flavours but adjust the quantity.
Fruit Muffins
1. Grease 6 medium muffin pans.

2. Sift into large bowl ………… 1 c flour


½ t B. soda.
Add and stir in ……………….6 T sugar.

3. Melt …………………………. 4 T butter


Stir in ……………………….. ½ c fruit.

4. Beat well ……………………. 1 egg.

5. Make a well in the dry ingredients.


6. Quickly stir in all the liquid ingredients.
Spoon the mixture into the muffin tins.
7. Bake at 180°C for 15 - 20 mins.

Makes 6 medium sized muffins

*It is important to use fruit to react with the Baking soda

*The juice of the cooked fruit needs to be used when measuring the fruit.

*If using bananas use lemon juice or try lemonade!

*Try chocolate chips on special occasions.

*Raw chopped kiwifruit works well.


Pinwheels
1. Sift into bowl ………………….1½ c flour
3 t B.P.
pinch of salt.

2. Rub into dry ingredients …....2 D butter

3. Measure…………………...... ⅔ c milk
4. Stirring with a knife, gradually add the milk
to the dry ingredients to form a stiff dough.
5. Turn onto a floured table and roll into a
rectangular shape.
6. Spread over the topping.
Place on baking tray.
7. Bake at 200°C for 15 mins or until golden.

Butter Crisps

1. Grease lightly an oven tray

2. Sift into large bowl ………⅔ c flour

5. Make a well in the dry ingredients.


Add egg and melted butter.
Stir well with a knife.

6. Shape the mixture into ball shapes.

7. Bake at 180°C for 10 - 15 minutes. Makes 15-20

Savoury Cheese Snacks

1. Sift into a bowl ……… ½ C flour


½ t B.P.
pinch of salt.

2. Rub in ………………… 2 T butter.

3. Add to the flour ……… ½ C breadcrumbs


½ C grated cheese
pinch of mustard.

4. Measure ……………….¼ C milk.


Gradually stir in milk to form a firm dough.
Roll out thinly on a floured table.
Shape as desired.

5. Bake at 210°C until golden.


Approximately 5 minutes.

*Add seasonings to change the flavour

*Use biscuit cutters to make different shapes or cut into long strips to
make Cheese Straws.

*When complete, brush with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds, rock
salt, cracked pepper, poppy seeds, grated cheese…………...
JACKET WEDGES

1. Scrub well …………… 4 potatoes


Cut into wedge shapes.

2. Rinse potato in cold water. Drain and pat dry.

3. Mix in a bowl ………… 3 T olive oil


1 T soya sauce
1 t clove garlic
½ t salt.
Add the potato to the mixture and stir gently.
4. Place wedges on a baking tray.

5. Bake at 200˚C for 35 - 50 mins until golden.

* Sprinkle the potato with a little flour before putting them onto the
baking tray. This will give them a crusty surface.

* Use baking paper on the tray to stop the wedges sticking to the
tray. This will save dish washing time.

* Use other flavours, herbs, peppers with the oil.

* Sprinkle with a little grated cheese at the end of


cooking.

* Cook potato slightly before cutting into wedges.


This will shorten the time needed for baking.

* Use a plastic bag to mix the oil and potato in.


This will save dish washing time.
When producing Products, Mock-ups are a
useful tool to test conceptual ideas, materials or
ingredient suitability.

Basic Recipe

1.Heat in microwave until warm………..1 T canola oil


3 T golden syrup
Stir well to combine.

2. Stir into the warm mixture …………...2 T chopped nuts


1 T seeds
1¾ C rolled oats

3. Bake at 200°C for 10 minutes or until golden.


Watch it carefully as it will burn very quickly.

4. Chop into small pieces ……………….3 T dried fruit


Stir into the mixture.

*This cereal will stay fresh for up to two weeks if you store it in an
airtight container .

*Remember, if you are allergic to nuts, leave them out.
