Final Reflection

On the end of my semester, I would say that I gained a lot of knowledge about this course of Eng111.

With a lot of activities, we did in the class related to topics and homework. I got to know about how a

technical writing should be or how can we improve it. At this stage of my semester end, I feel more

confident to write a technical essay for my any future purpose. It will help me in my future job and other

profession related writing.

In the beginning of the semester, I was not familiar with the term MLA format and its

advantage as for one, the information given in the bibliography is very complete. It makes it easy

for others to re-track materials and for teachers in fast checking. It also adds professional

perspective to my writing format. I found difficulties in complex essays such as photographic

memory. However, after analyzing, reading and working on multiple essays I became more

habitual with these formats which polished my writing skill and make it more proficient.

My mindset related to peer review has changed. In high school, I found it judgmental and I did

not like someone other than teacher commenting on my essay. Due to my lack vocabulary and

practice I found myself incapable or not smart enough to help others on their essays. But, when I

did peer editing in these classes, I had an advantageous experience as one usually learn more

from the people having same learning level. It proved to be very impressive tool in vocabulary

and phrases enhancement and making me more comfort in helping others. It strengthens my

writing skill by taking into account the positive as well as negative reinforcement given by

others. All of these help in expressing my thoughts more clearly. I learned lot about essay format
in skillful way. The assignment forces me to work on my habit of writing essays, drafts etc. on

regular basis which upgrade my knowledge. In completion of assignment, instructions and

examples of concept proved to be very helpful. My goal is to employ my critical thinking skills

to my writing assignments while enhancing my paragraphs and sentence making in essays.

In my final reflection, now I know how, when and where I do need to use vocabulary words and

transitions. After my middle of the term, I learnt few more technical things to help in my writing

like how to use transitions and where to use transitions. I learnt about how to write annotated

bibliography. With the help of writing center, I corrected a lot of things that I was doing wrong

before.

In conclusion, now I feel more confident myself writing a technical essay. Now I know the

proper use of transitions. This technical writing class really helped me for improving my writing

skills. Now I feel why this eng111 class is requirement for any major.
