Complete Parts 1 and 2 following your lesson plan activity implementation.
Name: Megan Howard
Date: 4/13/17 Focus: Perceptual, motor, and physical development Title of Lesson: Ready Set Go! Part 1: Evaluation Goal 1: The children will use their leg muscles to move the bikes or cars to complete the obstacle course. o Met Outcome: The children understood completely what I meant by using their legs to move the bikes or cars.
Follow-Up: I could do a activity where the children would have to run, instead of using the bikes and cars.
Goal 2: The children will use their large muscles to follow the right direction of course. o Met Outcome: This was met by some children, but some children had some trouble going in and out of the cones.
Follow-Up: Like the follow up above, I would have the children run, instead of use the bikes or cars because they might understand better.
Goal 3: The children will use perceptual information to navigate through the obstacle course. o Met Outcome: Once again, this was good for some children but some children did not listen and just went the way they wanted.
Follow-Up: I culd have the children kick a ball while running through the course.
Part 2: Self-Evaluation / Reflection
Complete each question following the lesson activity implementation:
1. Overall, how would you rate the success of your lesson activity? _____Fair X Good _____Excellent
2. What specific parts of the activity were most successful? Provide 3 examples to support your response. I think my idea matched very well with their theme. The theme was transportation and bikes and cars are two very popular items of transportation. I think having the cones for the children to go in and out of really challenged them, some succeeded but some struggled with the idea. Lastly, with some of the children I walked in front of theme and told them to follow me. I think this helped because they were going in and out of the cones better with my help.
3. Describe any difficulties or challenges you encountered. Were you adequately planned and prepared? Some difficulties I had were a couple of the children did not really understand, or listen to me, when I was explaining the weaving in and out of the cones. Also, some of the children were not listening before we were going upstairs so they were not able to, so I only did my lesson with half of the class. I was planned and prepared, I had the cones with me, the bikes and cars were upstairs and I had all of my papers in to Gina before hand.
4. How would you address the difficulties and/or challenges if it happened again? The children not listening and not be able to come upstairs was out of my hands. I think I would spend more time with the children who did not understand the concept of weaving between the cones.
5. Additional thoughts, insights, reflections: This was a challenging theme to work with but I am glad they had the cars and bikes upstairs. I am also sad this is my last lesson plan for the semester.
