1. PURPOSE
This Standard applies in the assembly of the hoses indicated on Table 1, using
the swaging (crimping ) machine, model T-400, moved by hydraulic/air pump.
(T-402-1).
3. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
Embraer Standards
5.1.1 Cut the hose squarely to desired length, using hose cut-off machine or
fine tooth hacksaw.
5.1.2 Burr the cut hose end and clean the cutting residues, with clean air blast
or other adequate process.
The quality of the compressed air shall be verified according to NE 40-118.
NOTE
The fittings shall be clean, free of grease, oil and other foreign particles
5.3.1 Connect the air line into pump hole (NPT 1/4 in).
NOTE
The available air pressure shall be 206 kPa to 827kPa (30 to 120)psi.
5.3.3 Pressure the command pedal, moving the piston of 25,4 mm (1 in).
5.3.5 Repeat the stages 5.3.3 and 5.3.4 for six times.
NOTE
With the system pressure of 655 Kpa (95 psi), the crimping time shall be
approximately 18 to 30 seconds, depending on the size and model of the hose.
NOTE
To assure that the hose is totally inside of the collar, to mark the depth of insert
in accordance Table 2 and Figure 2.

5.4.2 Place the matrix ring (gauge) T-400-8 in the base, in front of the
forward bumper.
5.4.3 Insert the two half of the bumper into the matrix ring (gauge). See
Figure 3.
5.4.5 Insert the assembly (hose and fitting) by the inferior part of the jaws and align the
shoulder marks, on the fitting collar, with the jaw top.

5.4.7 Place the correct side of the spacer ring (T-400-10 or T-400-11) on the
jaws top, while it maintains the hose in the place.
NOTE
The crimping is completed when the piston, spacer ring and matrix ring collide.
5.4.10 Turn off the pump, move the assembly forward and remove the spacer
ring.
6.1.2 Quality Assurance shall monitor the process specified on this Standard in
order to ensure the fulfillment of the requirements established herein and
promote preventive actions when necessary.
6.2 INSPECTION
NOTES
1) The crimping mark on the collar shall be located 1,5 mm (1/16 in)
approximately of the shoulder mark the projection (collar extremity).
2) When the extremities are pressed correctly, the mark done in the hose, (see
Note of 5.4.1, insertion depth) it shall approximately be 1,6 mm to 6,4 mm (1/16
to 1/4)in from the collar extremity.

Before the pressure test, it shall happen a flow of filtrated and dry air compressed
filtrate. The quality of the compressed air shall be verified according to the
requirements of the NE 40-118.
After pressure test, it hose shall be cleaned by flushing in the its interior a
cleaning fluid (see Table 5) to dislodge deposits, and blowing dry with clean air
(use filter in compressed air line or dry nitrogen).
NOTES
1) After cleaning, protect all fitting ends with caplug and bubble plastic to
avoid damage on the fittings during the transportation. The hoses assembly
shall be packed inside properly identified plastic bags or cardboard boxes. The
minimum bending radius of hose shall be observed during the handling,
transport and storage of hoses.
