The Importance of Religious Freedom

As Pope Francis once said, Its the duty of everyone to defend religious freedom and

promote it for all people. Not everyone has privilege to be open about what they believe in.

Religious freedom gives people a chance to express themselves and it also respects their human

dignity. Some people are also being persecuted for their faith. Religious freedom is something

not everyone has and it is taken for granted.

Around the world, religious freedom is not respected. There are many places that restrict

specific religions. Many groups have been ridiculed, supressed, and persecuted by those who

have a different religion than their own. Countries that have suppression of religious freedom are

most likely to have more economic problems. However, with religious freedom the outcomes for

less conflict and health is higher. Religious freedom also plays a huge part in everyday lives of

people.

Religion and tradition have a huge role in the lives of people around the world. Religion

and tradition is used in practice, marriage, family, and sometimes morally raising a child.

Religion can create a safe and supportive atmosphere for a child and everyone around. These

values are cherished and looked up to in many different countries. Religious freedom can also

bring communities and people together. For example, during hardships communities can come

together to pray. That not only strengthens their faith, but also their bond with everyone.

Religious freedom coincides with all the other freedoms.

Freedom of speech, voting, or religion, they all have something in common, freedom.

Religious freedom is important like all the other freedoms everyone wants and fights to have. It

lets people be comfortable and confident in what they believe in and worship. Just like the other

freedoms, it is not available to everybody. There are still a handful of people who still are in

hiding because of what they believe in. They are still fighting for what they want, unlike America

who is the land of the free and the brave.

Religious freedom is important in the daily lives of people and can cause less problems.

However, it is taken for granted and is sometimes not looked upon the side of those who do not

have religious freedom. People are being persecuted and imprisoned because the country's

government does not see religious freedom as something to look upon. To achieve those

freedoms, people fought. Religious freedom is like a gift.
