Today, we will determine the most influential figure of world history.
Rose: Here are our judges:
Hammurabi, an economic figure. Because of him, creating the first set of rules written in human
history, leads to democracy!!! (Consistent law that must be followed like democracy)
Next is John Locke, a religious figure. One of the creators of the Enlightenment.
Our last judge is Cai Lun, an inventor, innovator, he created paper.
Monica: Moving onto our 3 contestants Voltaire, Thomas Edison, and Genghis Khan.
Our 1st contestant is Voltaire an Enlightenment writer who regarded to the idea of religious
freedom.

Rose: Barely the 1st performance and Voltaire's already got the crowd going, now lets hear
what our judges have to say about that!
Monica: Our 2nd contestant is Thomas Edison, a man who invented the greatest everyday
appliances. I mean he did create the light bulb...and others...

Monica: Anyone got a light bulb cause he sure lit up my world. What do you think judges?
Rose: Our last contestant is Genghis Khan, founder and great ruler of the Mongol Empire. He
connected the Muslim and Chinese...he's the king of cross cultural exchange.

Hammurabi (Chanel Nguyen)-

Hello, my name is Hammurabi. I am the Sixth King of the Babylonian Dynasty. I ruled the
dynasty from circa 1792-50 B.C. I expanded the Babylon along the Euphrates River to unite all
of the Southern Mesopotamia. I proclaimed one of the earliest and ancient set of law codes on a
stone pillar. Which was for the public to see, and one of my most popular code is an eye for an
eye." My code includes many harsh punishments such as the removal of the guilty partys body
parts, also my code is one of the earliest example of the accused being innocent until proven
guilty.

John Locke (Lisa Tran)-

Hi, my name is John Locke. I am an Enlightenment philosopher. I refuted the idea of monarchy
and divine rights. I believe people have natural rights to life, liberty, and to ownership of
property. To establish order, I came up with the idea in which the people will relinquish some of
their rights to the government. The government has the responsibility to reflect the people's will
and must protect their rights. If the government fails to do so, the people have the right to
overthrow and establish a new government. As you guys know, I was the one who influenced
Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence.
