The people of Montgomery college think different about learning. They show the many

disadvantages of having online courses. It makes it easier for you to procrastinate than a in class

course. Online courses require more time than on-campus classes. The author explains that you

have to be able to manage time very well. This counter-claim would help to show the negative

side of having online courses over face to face and the disadvantages it has.

Author Roanne Angiello does a in depth research about how excellent face to face learning is.

The study was done using meta-analysis methodology, which combines the results of multiple

independent studies addressing a common hypothesis to come up with an estimate of the overall
effect of a particular treatment, in this case online learning. The result of each experiment is

expressed as the effect size, defined as the difference between the means for the treatment group

(those receiving online education) and the control group (those receiving face-to-face

instruction) divided by the pooled standard deviation. In this source, there are statistics from

surveys, schools, and etc.

Author Seth Hughes explains in this article the good in face to face learning. Online courses

usually require no face to face interaction with classmates or teachers. When in a classroom,

students may be required to speak their mind. They may be required to give presentations or

speeches. One problem with online classes is that all too often, they motivate us to get a degree,

but not to learn. This source has a lot of good information about the traditional classroom setting.

Author Carmen Paduraru lists a number of things that are great about face to face learning. One

thing is that you can be active in the classroom. What she found is that with the in class course

you have the professor there that is going to motivate you do get the work done. Without the

professor, you are basically having to give yourself motivation to get the work done and turned

in on time.
