Tutankhamun

Tutankhamun is probably the most famous

Egyptian pharaoh we know today. His tomb was
discovered in 1922. Tutankhamun became a
pharaoh at the age of nine and died at the age
of nineteen. His tomb was discovered by a
British archaeologist called Howard Carter.
It contained many treasures.
We dont know how Tutankhamun died. Some
think he died of an illness. Scientists and
archaeologists found a fracture on his skull
which could suggest that he was murdered.
They also found baskets of medicinal herbs
that might suggest he was ill.
Tutankhamuns tomb was found in The Valley of the Kings on the
West bank of the River Nile. Ay was responsible for
Tutankhamuns burial. We know this because of the pictures on
the walls of Tutankhamuns tomb. Ay succeeded Tutankhamun to
the Egyptian throne.
The archaeologist found many treasures in Tutankhamuns tomb
including a golden throne, gold statues and chests full of his
possessions for his afterlife.
It is believed that the Ancient Egyptians put a curse on anyone
who opened the tombs. After Howard Carter discovered
Tutankhamuns tomb some very peculiar things happened. A cobra
entered Howards house and ate his canary, one of the
archaeologists died two weeks later and vultures circled the tomb
all day.
