Title: Primary Leadership Team

Reports To: Primary School Principal

The members of the Primary Leadership Team (PLT) are responsible for providing information, guidance and
support to students, colleagues and the Primary School Principal.

Qualities:
Knowledge of PYP
Knowledge of instructional design
Knowledge of continuous quality improvement in education
Knowledge of technology as an instructional and educational tool
Ability to work collegially, collaboratively and cooperatively with all school personnel
Ability to collect, display, analyze and interpret data
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and duties
Possess mentoring skills

Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsibility to colleagues
Create, develop and reinforce an atmosphere/climate of collegiality within their Professional Learning
Community (PLC)
Lead a collective decision-making process within the PLC
Lead and participate in discussion within the PLC
Be informed about best practice and constructivism
Mentor colleagues to ensure their constructivist practice continues to grow
Observe and provide constructive feedback to colleagues to ensure their constructivist practice continues to
grow
Provide support- both professional and emotional to their PLC members
Communicate openly with teachers and students
Edit communication between home and school
Organise and prepare for PLC meetings
Share information from the PLT meetings to their PLC
Ensure all members of their PLC have a working knowledge of essential agreements, routines and school
expectations
Ensure data is collected, synthesized and analysed
Ensure data is utilised to drive instruction
Ensure systems-wide data collection structures are adhered to
Implement and adhere to timelines

Responsibility to PLT
Represent the views of their PLC to the PLT
Collaborate with other members of the PLT
Review policy and procedure to protect the integrity of the PS programme
Know the PS programme thoroughly and respond to questions raised in order to protect the integrity of the
programme
Share the responsibility of decisions made
Openly reflect upon activities and practice
Participate in planning for the future
Respond to feedback in a timely manner
Implement decisions
Organise and plan events
