Kuczynski-Brown, Alex. "Public School Funding Unequal: State and Local School
This article talks about the varying educational finances in low-poverty schools compared
to high-poverty schools. Similarly, it states that there are federal and state programs specifically
dedicated to account for differences in educational cost across schools and districts. However,
these programs arent very successful and most money is funneled in to low poverty districts. I
believe that the article did a great job of putting into prospective the finical disparities across
schools. The article presented factual information that was easy to understand. The article also
gives insight on steps that need to be taken to fix the problem. This relates to my topic because it
brings to light the problem of inadequate funding of high poverty schools related to low poverty
schools. Anyone that interested in the topic would find this source useful and very informative.

what goes on across the county. This article gets into the background of public education but
mainly focuses on the disparities between high and low poverty districts. The source was
successful in making the reader understand the problems as well as providing solutions. It also
provided lots of background and detailed information. The article goes in-depth on the topic of
inequality in the school system due to the way funds are collected. Reading this article helped
with my research because I learn new information that I didnt get from any other source. This

emphasizes the variances in public school funding that can be seen within states and across the
country. The disadvantage of students in lower poverty areas which indicates schools that arent
well funded are also discussed in this report. This report provides a wealth of information. It
offers information on reasons for unequal funding, funding in other countries, studies and
research conducted along with many other things. The information is all well-organized. This

Lewis, Anne C. "Unequal State Funding." Education Digest 73.8 (2008): 74. OmniFile
This Journal talks about the unequal state funding of schools in America. It also goes into
detail about ways to improve the problem of unequal funding. I dont think this source provided
a lot of information. And the information provided was pretty general. However, the solutions
proposed were actually good and practical solutions to the problem. I would recommend this
article to anyone that just wants standard information. Also, if anyone is interested in solutions to
Brown, Emma. "Inequitable School Funding Called one of the Sleeper Civil Rights
Issues of Our Time." The Washington Post. WP Company, 8 June 2015. Web. 12 Feb. 2017.
This article focuses on how the public education system is inadequate and inequitable. It
also talks about how the school funding issue is a civil rights issue. The article talks about how
ignoring the unaccommodating factors of our education system is ignoring human rights. They
say this because poorer students tend to go to schools that dont have money. Therefore, they are
left with inadequate supplies and resources to be successful. This article gave a new perspective
on the problem of poor funding for public schools. I think the article couldve given a little more

information on the subject. Nevertheless, a reader can still get an understanding of the topic from
reading this article. The article will also give them a different viewpoint on the matter.
