2. EL ADJETIVO. CONCEPTO
A. ADJETIVOS CALIFICATIVOS
coloca detrs.
(Nosotros no decimos "rojo coche" sino "coche rojo". Ellos dicen "red car". Sera
incorrecto decir "car red")
Ejemplos:
My blue shirt (Mi camisa azul).
This wonderful house is yours (Esta casa maravillosa es tuya).
This lovely woman is my mother (Esta mujer encantadora es mi madre).
Our father is a clever man (Nuestro padre es un hombre inteligente).

B. ADJETIVOS DEMOSTRATIVOS
SINGULAR:
THIS: Este, esta, esto.
THAT: Ese, esa, eso.
Aquel, aquella, aquello.
PLURAL:
Ejemplos:
These tables are red, but this chair and those desks are white.
Acompaan
siempre al sustantivo.
Los adjetivos posesivos en ingls son:

A. COMPARATIVO
My house is bigger than your house.
My girlfriend is more beautiful than your brothers girlfriend.
Cmo comparamos usando adjetivos calificativos?
"THAN".
This car is big. Este coche es grande.
This car is bigger than this bike.
"TALL"
My brother is taller than yours.
"SMALL"
My cat is smaller than yours.
14 TAMadrid
-Pg.18-
U . D . 1 - E STUDIO DE LOS MORFEMAS BSICOS
"LONG"
From my house to your house, there is a long way to go.
The way from my house to yours is longer than the way from my house to the church.
Ejemplos: BIG/BIGGER (grande/ ms grande)
FAT/FATTER (gordo/ ms gordo)
aade ER.
PRETTY/PRETTIER (guapa/ms guapa)
partcula MORE
BORING/MORE BORING (aburrido/ms aburrido)
Ejemplos:
BEAUTIFUL
This car is MORE beautiful THAN yours.
INTELLIGENT
My mother is MORE intelligent THAN her sister.
STUPID
Carol is MORE stupid THAN her friend.
Carol es ms estpida que su amiga

-Pg.19-
INGLS
Ejemplos:
This girl is LESS beautiful THAN your daughter.
Your grandmother is LESS thin THAN your mum.
This house is LESS dirty THAN the supermarket.
B. SUPERLATIVO
Si se quiere expresar "LO MS". Ese grado extremo y superlativo del adjetivo
calificativo lo formamos as:
The fattest man in the world is your uncle.
aade EST.
Pretty/The prettiest
Mary is the prettiest girl in the class
partcula MOST precedida del artculo determinado THE
Boring/THE MOST boring
Peter is the most boring boy in the class.

Intelligent/THE MOST intelligent
In my opinion, you are the most intelligent woman.
You have done the most wonderful thing.
T has hecho la cosa ms maravillosa.
cul no vara.
This is the least beautiful thing that you have ever done.
This chair is the least small one.

Actor - actress (Actor - actriz)
Hero - Heroine (Hroe - herona).

Tendramos:
I eat: yo como I dont eat: yo no como
You eat: t comes You dont eat: t no comes
He eats: l come He doesnt eat: l no come
She eats: ella come She doesnt eat: ella no come
It eats: l (animal) come It doesnt it: l (animal) no come
We eat: nosotros comemos We dont eat: nosotros no comemos.
You eat: vosotros comis You dont eat: vosotros no comis
They eat: ellos comen They dont eat: ellos no comen
Para formar la oracin interrogativa, tambin usamos el verbo DO o DOES como
auxiliar, exceptuando tambin las oraciones cuyo verbo principal es TO BE o TO HAVE

The teacher speaks slowly (El profesor habla despacio)
You look absolutely fabulous! (Ests absolutamente fabulosa!)
She played the violin extremely well.

He walked slowly to the door. (El camin lentamente hacia la puerta)
She certainly had an interesting life. (Seguramente ella tuvo una vida interesante)
He carefully picked up the sleeping child.
It is a fast car. (adjetivo) (Es un coche rpido)
He drives very fast. (adverbio) ( El conduce muy rpido)
This is a hard exercise. (adjetivo) ( Es un ejercicio duro)
He works hard. (adverbio) (El trabaja duro)
We saw many high buildings. (adjetivo) (Vimos muchas construcciones altas)
The bird flew high in the sky.
Ejemplos:
He is a good student. (el es un buen estudiante)
He studies well. (El estudia bien)
She is a good pianist. (Ella es una buena pianista)
She plays the piano well (Ella toca bien el piano)
They are good swimmers. ( Son unos buenos nadadores)

7.3. CLASIFICACIN
CLASES DE ADVERBIOS:
De modo (adverbs of manner):
careful carefully (cuidadosamente) easy easily (fcilmente)
aunque existen excepciones: well (bien) aloud (en voz alta)
objeto:
He swims well (El nada bien)
She spoke softly, loudly,...
nfasis:
He gently woke the sleeping woman. (Despert suavemente a la mujer que
dorma)

significado es no y suele acompaar a adjetivos calificativos. As pues, inactive

QUESTION TAGS
VERBO AUXILAR + PRONOMBRE?
She likes candies, doesnt she? (A ella le gustan los dulces, Verdad?)
They dont play the violin, do they? (Ellos no tocan el piano, Verdad?)
TAMadrid
33
-Pg.101-
INGLS
Si se trata del verbo To Be o Have got en presente
It is a lovely day, isnt it? (Es un da estupendo, Verdad?)
Mary wasnt her friend, was she?
We have got a car, havent we? (Nosotros tenemos un coche, Verdad?)
She hasnt got your pencil, has she?
