Title: Procedure to charge electronic gadgets by using solar radiation.

Student Name: Krishna Teja Palchuri

Student ID: 217201427

Engineering field: Electrical & Renewable Energy Resources (T1)

Subject Name: Managing & Developing innovation (SEB711)

SECTION 1&2- INTRODUCTION:

1
The primary topic of this venture is to charge the electronic contraptions like
advanced mobile phones, I pods and laptop's. This venture is much the same as a school pack,
which comprises of thin sunlight based boards and power stockpiling batteries. The idea driving
this venture is that, the sun based boards track the measure of light, which is DC from the sun
and store that power in the power stockpiling batteries with the goal that it can charge the
electronic devices.

Section 3 &4 Market and customers, Market Size and Trend:

Each and every day the usage of electricity is rapidly increasing and it will be
happy if we depend on the renewables. So, this project can be very useful to charge simple
electronic gadgets & this project is mainly useful for the customers like teenagers, cyclists,
travelers & hill climbers. The main specifications for this project which can easily attract
customers are:

It is capable of charging various electronic devices like (pcs, smart phones, I pods, small
medical equipments )
These are ecofriendly which wont cause any pollution to the environment.
Reduce the usage of fossil fuels.
Less maintenance is required.
Saves your money.

The current trends to charge these electronic gadgets are by electric sockets, (which the
energy is supplied by burning the fossil fuels) when the people are at home & also by
power banks (which the energy is stored inside) when people are out, but these Power
Banks are having more disadvantages than advantages (which can be explained in section
6&7).

Definitely, this project becomes most preferable in future, because the source we are
using here is solar which means there is extinction for this and most importantly at one
day the fossil fuels (which cause pollution) are going to extinct. So, its a smart move if
we depend more on renewables which are having more advantages than fossil fuels.

Section 5 -Target Market & Customer:

India is the ideal nation to begin this business to a great extent on the grounds
that; In India the real wellspring of power is originating from coal which is about 72%. The high
slag content in India's coal impacts the warm power plants. The following graph shows the
evaluation of coal (which causes environmental pollution) over the years in India.

2
Fig 1: Coal generation over the years in India

So, the pollution is relatively very high by depending on this. The pollution is not only the factor
but the in Mid-summer the electricity wont be continuously available in India. So the people,
especially younger generation cannot able to charge their smart mobiles, Pcs & some other small
electronic appliances. In summer the power wont be available constantly available, so there is a
large in need of power supply and in addition it can be used in any places where you cannot stick
to one place to charge your appliances. Hence the dependence on renewables should be increased
in more.

Section 6&7- Competitive Analysis and Estimated Market share:

The source for this project is solar (which is renewable), so obviously the
competition for renewables are non renewables (which are from coal, oil, natural gas). Though
this non renewables were used in vast but there are several disadvantages. They are:

Causes pollution which can damage the environment.

One day these fossil fuels are going to extinct.
By burning those fossil fuels the greenhouse gases, Sulphur dioxide which causes rain
are produced.

On the other hand by using solar energy we can get rid of all the disadvantages which
are were causing by non-renewables. But the only disadvantage for this is the efficiency is less
compared to those resources.

SWOT Analysis:

1) Strengths:

3
These are less cost so any one can afford this and these are less weight which can
charge electronic gadgets like I pods, smart phones etc.
These gadgets can also be charged by other source which is normally by DC
chargers; if we depend on that we have to stay in home until these gadgets get fully
charged.
These dont require any electric source to start up or activate power.
Eco friendly & low maintenance required.

2) Weakness:
During night times it is difficult to recharge.
These must be exposed to sunlight to charge.
It is also difficult in rainy and cloudy days.

3) Opportunities:
Solar energy is free and cannot be replenished so definitely it is most preferable
one to charge your electronic gadgets.
India is a developing country, so in a country like that the electricity crises are
more so it is very useful to charge.

4) Threats:
There is no particular competitive one for this product. Though, many people use
power banks to charge the electronic gadgets. But there are many disadvantages
for that. They are I) Power banks are heavy so it is difficult to carry or to keep in
your pocket. ii) The battery gets drained if you overcharge your gadgets &
relatively the battery life of gadgets leads to spoil.

PEST analysis:

1) Political factors:
The solar energy is an increasing renewable energy technology in India which
is why Indian government also supporting these policies. So, the private companies
producing these solar products will get loans from the banks & government.

2) Economic factors:
The usage of smart phones & other electronic gadgets are increasing day by
day. Most of the people use these electronic gadgets in their work. So each and every time

4
people cannot stick to the electric sockets. Hence this concept have the ability to produce
electricity and cab be used at any time & anywhere.

3) Social factors:
These days most of the people came to know that pollution has been the most
social problem. So, the only way to get rid of this problem is to decrease the usage of fossil
fossils and to start the dependence on renewables.

4) Technological factors:
In general, the PV cells are the major source for this product & nickel,
cadmium is the material for solar energy but the cost of these is too expensive. So, new
technology has to be brought.

SECTION 8- Finance Forecast:

Estimation of the worldwide sun based power showcase from 2003 through
2023 (in billion U.S. dollars)* this measurement speaks to the estimation of the worldwide
sun based power advertise in 2003 and 2013.

Fig 2: Finance forecast of solar based products globally

Section 9-Cash Flow:

The items required & expenditure for this project is listed below in the table

5
Product Cost

Solar panel (6v 3.5W) 39 AUD

Lithium Ion Battery (3.7 v 2000 mAh) 12.50 AUD

Polymer charger kit- v2.0 17.50 AUD

9.95 AUD
Power Boost 500 Basic - 5V USB Boost

1.95 AUD
2.1mm DC Barrel Plug to Alligator
Clips

Slide Switch 0.95 AUD

Table 1: cost of the items used

Section10- (Break even Analysis):

The cost price for producing one unit= 120 AUD

The selling price of each product would be 150 AUD

At, an average 10,000 products are sold in a month

So, cost price for producing 10,000 units (in a month) = 12, 00,000 AUD

So, Selling price for producing 10,000 units (in a month) = 15, 00,000 AUD

6
Hence, for this analysis I can achieve my break-even point at 24 days (as shown in figure
below) Fig 3: Break even analysis graph

Section11-Conclusion:
Thus, by utilizing this venture we can diminish the reliance on power (which
is something to be thankful for) and additionally extremely helpful in crisis times and
furthermore in a few spots like mountains, woods. To include upon, by utilizing less
measure of cash we can charge all our electronic contraptions (which are extremely
valuable in nowadays) in a less expensive and more secure way.
