ABSTRACT
In past few years, home automation & remote control and monitoring systems
have seen a rapid growth in terms of technology. Technology is a never ending
process. To be able to design a product using the current technology that will be
beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the community. Technology
advancements have made the implementation of embedded systems within home
appliances. This increased the capabilities and features. There is demand for smart
home automation through mobile phones. This paper gives a review of these systems
based on existing technologies and also proposes a GSM-Bluetooth based light
controller and remote monitoring system. Bluetooth modules are cost effective and
flexible so it is one of the best choices for smart home automation. A Bluetooth
module is also interfaced with the main microcontroller chip. The system informs
user about any abnormal conditions like intrusion detection and temperature rise via
SMS from the GSM module or by Bluetooth module to the users mobile and actions
are taken accordingly by the user.
