ALEXASIA 2013

Two concurrent International Conferences, one about Aluminium


Extrusion Technology and other about Gravity Die Casting Technology
were organised by Arkey Conference
Service Cell at Nehru Centre Mumbai from 17th Oct to 19th Oct.

Dr. M. Nilmani, President ALUMINIUM EXTRUDERS COUNCIL (ALEX),


welcomed the members and briefed about the activities of the Aluminium
Extruders Council (ALEX).

Mr. Kshemendra Nath, Chairman Organising Committee ALEXASIA


narrated the objective of this conference to bring Technology providers
and Extruders and Casting Manufacturers together which will help the
industry grow to be the global players as India is a hub for Aluminium
Components. The event was inaugurated by lighting traditional lamp by
the chief guest and other dignitaries.

The chief guest Shri Apurva Chandra Principal Secretary, Industry, GOVT
OF MAHARASHTRA
spoke about use of Aluminium in various fields and Maharashtra
Government is looking for players in Aluminium industries.

In his Keynote address Shri Vishal Seth Managing Director Alcoa India
Pvt.Ltd. spoke about
the future of Aluminium Industry and Alcoas projections about global
requirements of
Aluminium in the next decade. The trend of using higher percentage of
Aluminium in transportation Sector to reduce the weight not only
increases fuel efficiency but also reduces CARBON emission

A GDC Book published by ARKEY, dedicated To late MR. H. K. FIRODIA


was released by the
chief guest.

The first volume of the bi monthly magazine which will be published by


Arkey was also released.

The results of the GDC project Competition were announced and prises
distributed.
After the Inaugural Ceremony The Conference Exhibition was thrown open
by cutting the ribbon by Shri Vishal Seth, Managing Director, Alcoa India
Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Kshemendra Nath, Managing Director, Sapa Profiles India
P Ltd.

After the brake the participants gathered in their respective halls for the
technical sessions which were Spread over seven sessions on 17th and
18th.
Prominent persons connected to Aluminium in various fields presented
their experiences , thoughts and views during the technical sessions. The
subjects deliberated were,

running an organization successfully
with special emphasis on recessionary period.

7 Mass Production Technology for GDC Process.
8 Casting Simulation Static vs Tilt Pouring Gravity casting.
9 Thermal Analysis The Biometric for GDC.
10 Simulation Technologies for GDC Case Studies.
11 Human Resources Management some thoughts for the decade
12 Magnesium Metal Die Castings for Lighter Cars.
13 Design of Energy Efficient furnaces for the Aluminium Industry.
14 Fuel Efficient Eclipse Burners.
15 Aluminium Casting Welding Technology.
16 Selection and Utilization of Simulation Software.
17 Hedging in the Comfort of Local Currency.

The Technical Sessions were well attended and the Authors answered the
questions at
The end of each session.
There were Presentations by the Participants of the GDC project
competition .They
were well appreciated by the audience. This was the first type of this kind
making presentations by Shop Floor Engineers

19Th October was the Buyers Sellers Day. The meet was inaugurated by
the chief guest
Mr. Rishi Bagla, Chairman and Managing Director, Aurangabad Electricals
ltd.

There were presentations by

c CASTALL TECHNOLOGIES Pvt.Ltd.Need of vendor up gradation
themselves with the State of art Technology to be the Global
player.
d Anand Mangrulkar of TATA AUTO COMPONENTS Talked about
the need for
Self Certification.

The meeting ended with Open House Discussion


Mr. R. T. Kulkarni conveyed in his closing remarks, thanks to every one
who supported this event.
