SYNOPSIS

Projects in the geotechnical world are becoming more complex over time and solving the project scope very often needs the
coordinated input of special knowledge and know-how from different sources and resources as well as professionally as
regionally. Design has to be compatible with process engineering, execution has to consider local circumstances, all these
impacts have to be combined, have to be compatible with each other. Very often competences and experiences to create a
solution are available on a global scale only and bundling needs active management of international knowledge transfer. Using
two recently executed projects the impact of international know-how transfer to create a solutions to the clients benefit are
demonstrated. Finally future challenges for the geotechnical industry arriving from these changes will be summarized and
recommendations are given to cope with the complexity in terms of skills required.
