ONE LINERS FROM SOAP OPERAS. When I was in grade school, I always saw my Lola Fely listening to
some afternoon soap operas. It was her entertainment after doing her usual chores. I had no choice,
but to listen too. From that experience, I picked up several soap opera lines, which I still remember
until today.
Soap operas are radio drama programs. Since they are usually aired at the time housewives do their
morning laundry, they have manufacturers of detergent products are usual sponsors.
By the way these lines represent the idioms of the 1960s. They are the equivalent of our hugot lines
today. Some lines:
1. Inilagay mo ako sa balag ng alanganin (Youve put me into the quagmire of doubt).
2. Para akong pinagtakluban ng langit at lupa (As if I was caught in between heaven and earth).
3. Magtiis-tiis ka pa (Keep on enduring).
4. Hindi mo ba alam na ang aking ginagalawan ay ang mataas na lipunan? (Dony you know that Im
now part of the high society)?
5. Oh, hindi (Oh, no).
6. Nagawa ko ito sa ngalan ng pag-ibig (I did it in the name of love).
7. Agaw-buhay niyang sinambit ang mga katagang pinakamamahal kita (While dying, he uttered the
words I love you most).
8. At magiting niyang ipinagtanggol ang aming pagmamahalan (And he valiantly fought for our love).
9. Huwag mo akong ibaon sa matinding pag-aalinlangan (Dont bury me into intense doubt).
10. Wala kang ibinigay sa akin kundi sama ng loob (Youve given me nothing except bad feelings).

form of plaques. Then the camera pans to see more awards in various shapes, sizes, designs, and
sculptures. You could even see the Golden Dove award, the Catholic Mass Media Award, the PMPC Star
Awards, etc. in the station ID.
