this studies purposely to determine the Learners attitude I towards Mathematics and
their Academic Achievement: Basis for Remedial Program of Grade II pupils in Doa Juana
Actub Lluch Memorial Central School year 2016-2017. The descriptive method of research
correlational analysis was used and appropriate statistical tools were used. With 191 pupils in
the four section in Grade Two the data distributed and gather a through questionnaires and
documentary analysis.

The Grade II learners were within their age brackets and were appropriate to learn the
lessons in Mathematics and most of them were females where their parents had varied profile
on their occupation and educational attainment.

On the level of attitudes towards Mathematics, the learners had high level of confidence,
anxiety, value, enjoyment, motivation, and teacher expectation. Most of the grade II learners did
not meet the expectations in their academic towards achievement in Mathematics despite their
high level of attitudes towards Mathematics. Age of learner showed relationship to their
confidence, anxiety, and enjoyment, motivation except gender, parents occupation and parents
educational attainment.

Learners attitude towards Mathematics showed significant relationship with their

diagnostic test results on motivation and teachers expectations.

Base from the study, it is then recommended that Teacher should prepared relevant
activities towards the development of the 21st century skills such as communication skills, critical
thinking skills and collaboration skills. Teachers should consider the demographic profile of their
learners for possible reference in order to understand the individual differences of learners.
There should have school to community partnership particularly the parents so that extension of
learning shall take place in the homes of the learners. Provides effective math teachers who has
high positive attitude and flexible to teach mathematics. School must implement activities such
as remedial teaching as innovative strategies in teaching which are learner centered. Teacher
must build relationship with the learners and provide positive influence even the most difficult
situation so that the learners will be more motivated in studying mathematics.
