Unit Objective
This lesson plan is part of a unit plan using nouns and verbs in sentence structures
as in the common core language standard CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.1.F.

Lesson Objective

Content Learning Goals and Objectives

Note: Any assessments used should be aligned to the learning goals and
objectives. Also consider aligning goals and objectives to Blooms taxonomy.
1. Given a sentence the student will make a table on Microsoft word and identify the noun
in the sentence with 100% accuracy.
2. Given the correct noun in the sentence the student will identify the correct verb that
matches the noun and sentence structure with 100% accuracy.

Student Participation

The goal of this lesson is to ensure the students understand proper simple grammar
when writing and speaking in everyday life. Students identify the noun and match

Technology Integration

Students will use the website stated above for an initial way to learn their verbs and
adjectives to prepare them for the activity. Word technology will be used to make the
students charts and to help students organize their work in a way that is easy to follow.

Background and Rationale

Students will demonstrate understanding in noun and verb usage through an

online game and then through the assignment by making a chart that has a layout to
help them identify and organize their work.
Academic Language is not addressed in IDT 3600.
This lesson is a continuation of TN social studies standard 4.0.
We will refer to the summary created here as we continue to explore the
Preamble. We will also use our outlines for a unit on creative writing.
I am aware that the lesson will be differentiated for students who did not master
the objectives and for those ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in
this course and are not part of this particular lesson.

Procedures and Timeline

Introduction

Begin by playing the online game as a class on a smart board in the classroom to
get the entire class familiar with the activity.
Explain how the game will help with their assignment.
Give students time on the computer to play the game alone and to get a better
understanding of what is expected of them for the assignment.
Follow this with a brief quiz to ensure that all students have a firm grasp on what a
noun and verb are and how they are used in sentences.
However, for the next two days, the students will be working in Microsoft Word
making a chart and making correct sentences and identifying nouns and verbs.
