ELEMENTARY RHYTHMS/DANCE EDUCATION LESSON PLAN

OBJECTIVES:
Psychomotor
1. The student will perform locomotor and nonlocomotor movements to a song during the dance
portion of class as directed by the instructor.
Cognitive
1. The students will listen to animal sounds, identify the animal and mimic its movements.
Affective
1. The students will participate in dance and rhythm activities with a positive attitude.

Part 1. Introductory Activity: Dance 1.1- Demonstrate the ability to vary control and direct
force/energy used in basic locomotor and axial movements (e.g., skip lightly, turn strongly, fall
heavily).

Part 2. Lesson Focus:P. E. 1.16 Perform locomotor and nonlocomotor movements to a steady
beat.

Part 3. Closing Activity: P.E. 3.6 Stretch arms, shoulders, back, and legs without hyperflexing
or hyperextending the joints.
