Five Year Plan

The start of my five year plan is getting a job, even before I graduate so I can put more

money into my back account to help me pay for college, living expenses and anything else I

might need over the next 5 years so i'll be able to support myself in a manner where I can live

comfortably and happily as the time being. So I plan on taking two semesters off from school,

I know a lot of people think that decision can be a risky one but I know myself and personally

I need that time to think about what I want and how I can get it. For me right now taking this

time off will help me so financial, mentally, emotionally and physically so I am able to put my

100% into my schooling with no doubts in my mind. That I know its something I want to do,

and that it is the right time to do it.

But when I plan on going back to school ill be going to merceds Jr college to get my

general education and getting my transfer credits which are at least 30 semester (45 quarter)

units of general education courses and to get 48 semester units of general education breadth

requirement. The general education requirement includes 39 semester units of lower-division

(GE-Breadth) and at least nine units of upper-division courses, completed after transferring to

the CSU. So I ill be able to get into a UC that next semester. Once and if I get accepted to a

UC ill be getting BA or BS in chemistry which is a Bachelor of Science or Arts. Getting this

degree requires me to take physics, Biochemistry, calculus, chemistry, computer science,

engineering physics, geometry and inorganic chemistry as a minimum of classes.

College chemistry is an overview of general chemistry topics, plus usually a little of

organic chemistry and biochemistry, but this all depends on what division I decide to go into.

But I do know that I want to be enrolled into a undergraduate chemistry program to help better
myself for my future. Some jobs that I can get with a BA or a BS in chemistry could be an

Analytical chemist, Chemical engineer, Healthcare scientist, clinical biochemistry, Forensic

scientist, Pharmacologist, Research scientist (physical sciences), Toxicologist. This is only the

tip of the iceberg of the new paths I could take for my job. I would be able to work in

chemical engineering so ill be able to apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and

math to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and

many other products. They design processes and equipment for large-scale manufacturing, plan

and test production methods and byproducts treatment, and direct facility operations. Which

would be helping me and my future.

For my living arrangement, i'll be living with my parents for about a year. With this

decision ill be able to put a larger part of my paycheck into my savings for college. I know

eventually I would like to move out and be able to have that money could help me with living,

eating, sleeping. I want to get a little apartment once I am ready to move out, here in merced or

anywhere else I end up living in the next couple of years. But at the end of the day im not

sure any of this will come true because so many things change over time, whether it be choices

or decisions we make. Or the choices and decisions that others make for us. All im saying is

that this is a possibility that I would like to give a chance. And I know if I put the time and

effort to something I am passionate about, I can work wonders. This will be a challenge for me

but a challenge I cant refuse because this the beginning to my adult hood. And I want to know

that I can do it.
