Description
MonelnickelcopperalloyK500combinestheexcellentcorrosionresistancecharacteristicofMonelalloy400withtheaddedadvantagesofgreaterstrengthandhardness.
Theincreasedpropertiesareobtainedbyaddingaluminumandtitanimumtothenickelcopperbase,andbyheatingundercontrolledconditionssothatsubmicroscopic
particlesofNi3(Ti,Al)areprecipitatedthoughoutthematrix.Thethermalprocessingusedtoeffectprecipitationiscommonlycalledagehardeningoraging.
Application
TypicalapplicationsforalloyK500arepumpshaftsandimpellersdoctorbladesandscrapersoilwelldrillcollarsandinstrumentselectroniccomponentsspringsand
valvetrim.
CorrosionResistance
ThecorrosionresistanceofMonelalloyK500issubtantiallyequivalenttothatofalloy400exceptthat,whenintheagehardenedcondition,alloyK500hasagreater

ThecombinationofverylowcorrosionratesinhighvelocityseawaterandhighstrengthmakealloyK500particularlysuitableforshaftsofcentrifugalpumpsinmarine
