Career aspirations

I am a year 11 student, therefore in my final year of secondary education.

I have developed many skills including good communication skills and
how to organise my work. As an individual I have a passion for law and
hope to pursue a career in this field, further more to gain more knowledge
and understanding of the concept on how the legal system works. I hope
that any knowledge I can gain prior to embarking on further studies; in
sixth form.
I would like to be a criminal defence barrister. For the simple reason that it
helps me express my thoughts and opinions towards people. As well as
that, I enjoy debating especially in citizenship, this helps to express what
you feel is right or wrong. Working in the legal profession helps an
individual against the economy; considering I like to help people and
defend themselves. Any individual who has committed a crime, I believe
should receive a punishment also ensure that the defendant receives a
fair trial as a result this protects society.

Personal statement
I would like to be given the opportunity to attend Lordswood Sixth Form
due to its outstanding results and website reviews about tutor support
given. As well as that it offers a broad range curriculum therefore this
means I can study the subjects that other sixth forms dont offer. Also the
culture of high expectations is highly recommended. If I was given the
chance to attend Lordswood sixth form, I would study English literature,
Government and Politics and sociology; as I want to pursue my career as a
lawyer.
During year 11, I gained an understanding and perception of the world of
work. I went to a law firm in Northfield; which specialises in criminal and
family law. During my placement; which was for a week, I worked in an
office in the firm with one of their colleagues. This allowed me to interact
and socialise with people in the work place. Moreover; to work with other
people is an important skill in life. Throughout my time in my placement I
read closed cases and analysed them for example why the judge believes
defendant is guilty or not guilty also looked at the evidence given.in
addition I learnt how to fie finances for cases; working out cost schedule. I
gained a role of responsibility during the placement this shows that you
are reliable and trustworthy.
I enjoy playing sport, especially rounders. I have represented my school
in a girls rounders team, in which we competed with other schools. This
has helped me to realise the importance of being a member in a team;
this reinforces leadership skills. In my spare time I love to read novels and
periodicals.
I currently attend Holly Lodge High School, in which I am studying m
GCSEs including my core subjects, Ive been studying the following since
year 10 which are Sociology, Business and geography. Ive been enjoying
my Sociology lesson since I started my GCSEs. I have gained knowledge
and understanding of the whole concept of Sociology; as it is the study of
social behaviour. This subject intrigues me as it links to my everyday life
on how I view people in society. I would like to continue to study this
subject and go into more depth in the subject as it is also linked to law.
Id also like to study Government and Politics, although I have not studied
this before; I have an awareness into what it is about. I would like to study
this subject for the reason that it can develop my critical thinking skills
and strengthen my ability to comment on the nature of politics. Although
laws change regular I find it fascinating for the reason that law is flexible
to ensure that changes made into the future is taken into account also
new values and old values. This links a lot with law therefore this will
benefit me.
I would like to study English literature for A-levels for the reason that I
would gain a better analytical though process. As well I like to write
creatively and explore texts in further depth and look at texts in another
perspective. This links to my career path as it is analysing a lot. This will
better me to have a wider range of vocabulary.
It would be an honour, if I am given a place in your Sixth Form. By reason
of that I am a hard worker who thrive in everything I do. Also I am very
determined in my studies that are going to contribute to my future. When
I have completed my secondary education, I would like to go to Lordswood
Sixth form to study my A-levels. From there I would like to go to university
and do a degree in criminal law, I hope ten after that I can become a
criminal defence barrister.
