Lab Set Up Guide

LSG Requirements
The following tables list the hardware, software, and other materials needed to set up a lab
to conduct a class of course AU07, ERC 9.1.

Hardware Requirements
Table 1 lists the hardware needed to prepare one student lab set. The class is designed to
be run in teams of 2 to 3 students. Each team will use one lab set, consisting of 5 LPARs: 1
VIOS LPAR and 4 AIX LPARs.
The Static Routing exercise configures routing between two lab sets, therefore a minimum
of two lab sets are required for the class.
When preparing for a class, multiply the items below by the number of lab sets needed for
the class.

a. We believe it would be possible to deliver this class with multiple lab sets config-
ured on one p550 or p570 system. However, we have not tested this. If a delivery or-
ganization wants to do this, it should be tested before first delivery. There may be
some adjustments needed to the LPAR configurations. Also, the instructor may need
to give special instructions to the students for this configuration.
NON-POWER5-BASED EQUIPMENT
This course was designed specifically for POWER5-based systems. Exercises 2, 4 and 7
in particular, just cannot be performed on non-POWER5-based systems. In addition, the
other exercises assume the lab setup described here, so you would have to provide
considerable extra explanation to the students. Also, there are significant hardware
requirements if using non-POWER5-based systems: In order for the other exercises to
function as written, you would need four AIX systems per team. The rte systems (one per
team) need three Ethernet adapters each. The srv, sys1 and sys2 systems would need at
least two Ethernet adapters each. Three adapters are required for the second part of the
Static Routing exercise (Exercise 5).
If you do not have POWER5-based systems available for delivery, we believe the best
option is to use the latest version of the course that is not based on POWER5. This would
be AU07 ERC 7.

Software Requirements
Table 2 and Table 3 list the software needed to prepare the student and/or instructor lab
set(s). When preparing for a class, be sure you have the correct number of licensed copies
of any non-IBM software.

No hardcopy documentation is required for the class, however it is useful for students to be
able to access the online AIX documentation. This can either be installed on each system
using CD media, or if the systems have Internet access, the students can access the
documentation online.

Special Materials Requirements

Table 7 lists any special materials or supplies such as configuration diskettes, project
tapes, or bugged logic cards needed to conduct the class. Quantities are specified for each
class, each lab set, or each student.

IP Address and Network Connection Requirements

Each student lab setup requires the use of 5 IP addresses and hostnames for the 5 LPARs,
plus IP address/hostname for the HMC.
The IP addresses should be on the same subnet. While the IP addresses do not need to be
in a contiguous range, it would be helpful if they were.
The hostnames do not need to be in a prescribed format. DNS name resolution is optional
for the class exercises. However, if you are planning on installing the LPARs from the CDs
and want to move the CD drive between partitions using DLPAR, DNS is required as the
HMC does not support /etc/hosts based name resolution.
The addresses required are:
1 IP address/hostname is required for the HMC system.
1 IP address/hostname is required for the Virtual I/O Server partition (VIOS).
1 IP address/hostname is required for each of the four AIX partitions (rte, srv, sys1 and
sys2).
1 IP address/hostname may be required for the managed system if the connection to
the HMC is on a public network.
Each managed system requires two physical network connections. That is a network cable
must be connected from each of two physical Ethernet adapters to the network switch or
hub used in your lab.

Instructor information
The instructor for the course must be provided with the following information:
IP address, netmask and hostname information for the HMC and for the AIX and VIOS
partitions on each p5 system
Gateway IP address for the p5 systems
DNS server IP address and domain name for the p5 systems (if DNS is in use)
Location of the WebSM client on the classroom systems. (and any other classroom
system software)
Passwords that are configured for:
- hscroot userid on the HMC
(suggest abc1234)
- padmin user for the Virtual I/O Server partitions
(If using the mksysb_q1307_vios mksysb, the password is abc123)

Skills Required to Set Up the Lab

The following specialized skills are required to set up the lab:
Advanced AIX and POWER5-based system administration skills, in particular LPAR
configuration/activation, and use/setup of a NIM environment. This lab setup guide does
not explain how to install or configure a NIM server, however it provides hints that may be
of use when using a NIM server to install the lab systems.

Set Up Instructions

Configuration Information
The following describes the configurations of the student lab systems.

Hardware Set Up Instructions

Use the following information in addition to the normal hardware installation procedures to
set up the lab hardware.
__ 1. This course requires use of a POWER5-based system with the features described in
Table 1, Hardware for one student lab set, on page 1.
Ideally all systems used in the course should be configured in an identical manner
as regards adapter type and placement, however this may not always be possible.
__ 2. There must be at least two Ethernet adapters per managed system and both must
be connected to the lab network.
__ 3. The HMC can be connected to the managed system on either a private or public
network.
__ 4. Ensure the HMC is running HMC code as shown in Table 2, HMC software/platform
firmware, on page 2.
__ 5. Ensure the managed system has firmware level matching the HMC software level as
shown in Table 2, HMC software/platform firmware, on page 2.
__ 6. The workstations the students will use to access the HMC must be installed with the
WebSM client code that is downloaded from the HMC used for the class. This is
particularly important if the student workstations are running Linux.
Open a web browser on the student workstation, and go to the following URL:
http://HMCaddress/pc_client.html
You will be prompted to authenticate with the HMC. Use the hscroot userid and
password, then follow the instructions to download the WebSM client for the
operating system running on the student workstation.

Partition and Profile Defaults

This course requires five partitions with one profile each to be defined on each
HMC/managed system. All of the partitions and profiles have some default values where
applicable, as described in Table 8 and Table 9 below.

HMC and Managed System Set Up Instructions

Use the following information in addition to the normal software installation procedures to
set up the HMC and managed system partition configuration.
In the tables below, a Mode value of uncapped means the partition is an uncapped shared
processor partition. A Mode value of capped means the partition is a capped shared
processor partition. A Mode value of dedicated means the partition uses dedicated
processors.
__ 1. On the HMC GUI, delete the current partition and profile definitions. You can delete
all partitions and profiles using the following steps in the HMC GUI. Select the
managed system, and right click. A popup menu will appear. Select Profile
Information --> Initialize from the menu. A popup window will appear asking you to
confirm the removal of all partition and profile information from the managed system.
Click the OK button to continue.
NOTE: The tables below show the virtual slot numbers we used when creating these
LPARs on a p520 system. You can use different slot numbers if you need to, as long
as you preserve the relationships. You may need to use different slot numbers,
especially if you are using p550 or p570 with multiple LPAR sets on one managed system.
__ 2. Define the VIOS partition and its profile as described in the tables below. you are
using a p550 or p570 with multiple LPAR sets in each managed system, number the
VIOS partitions: VIOS1, VIOS2, VIOS3, etc.

LSG a. If you are planning on installing the LPARs from the product media, you
should make the DVD drive adapter be a Desired resource. Other physical
adapters should be Required.
The exercises assume that each set of four AIX LPARs is served by one VIOS
partition. If you need to have multiple AIX LPAR sets served by one VIOS partition
for shared Ethernet Adapter resources, then Exercise 7 (Shared Ethernet Adapter)
will need to be performed together by the affected teams. For example, if lab set 1
(rte1, srv1, sys11 and sys12) and lab set 2 (rte2, srv2, sys21 and sys22) are both
served by one VIOS partition for shared Ethernet adapter resources, then team1
and team2 must work together on Exercise 7, and so forth.

Virtual I/O Server Software Set Up Instructions

Use the following information to set up the Virtual I/O Server partition software. This must
be done before you can install the AIX partitions on the managed system.
You can either install the VIOS partition using:
The installios command from the HMC
Directly from the DVD drive in the managed system.
Using a mksysb resource from a NIM server
You can use the mksysb_q1307_vios file supplied, or you can install one VIOS
partition, then create a mksysb resource and use that to install the remaining VIOS
partitions.
__ 1. Activate the VIOS partition using the default-v profile.
__ 2. Connect to the VIOS partition using the HMC virtual console.
__ 3. Install the VIOS partition as described in the product documentation, using the
appropriate version of the Virtual I/O Server product media.
OR
Install from a mksysb using NIM. If using the supplied mksysb_q1307_vios
mksysb, you should use an AIX 5.3 ML4 spot.
Note: It is important that the Virtual I/O Server code be installed onto the disk
labelled as hdisk0.
__ 4. When the partition reboots after the installation procedure, login as the user
padmin. If installing from the mksysb_q1307_vios mksysb, the password is
abc123.
__ 5. Change the password for the padmin account, using the passwd command, if
needed.
__ 6. Accept the Virtual I/O Server software license agreement with the following
command:
$ license -accept
__ 7. Enter the root user environment with the following command:
$ oem_setup_env
__ 8. From the root user environment, use SMIT to set the correct date, time and time
zone.
# smitty date
# smitty chtz

Lab Set Up Guide

__ 9. Return to the padmin CLI environment by typing Ctrl-D or exit.

__ 10. In the next steps, you will be creating virtual resources for your AIX LPARs. You will
have to perform these steps on the VIOS partition of each managed system. It may
be convenient for you to create a script that performs these tasks, and ftp the script
to each VIOS partition. This will reduce the chances of making a mistake in the
configuration process. If you installed the VIOS LPAR using mksysb_q1307_vios,
there is a script in padmins home directory (q1307setup.sh), which can be used as
a template for creating these resources. You will likely need to modify the script for
your environment, see step __ 12., on page 14 through step __ 16., on page 16 for
details.
__ 11. Use rmtcpip to clear the network setup before configuring the network. After
running rmtcpip, run cfgdev to rediscover the network devices.
Note: If you performed a fresh install (not from a mksysb), this step is not needed,
but it does no harm.
$ rmtcpip -all
$ cfgdev
__ 12. Next you will be creating two Shared Ethernet Adapters. But first you need to identify
which AIX virtual adapter name is associated with which port VLAN ID (PVID).
Use lsdev | grep ent to list your Ethernet adapters. You should see:
At least two physical adapters (In our example, there were three: two on the dual
port adapter and one on the other adapter)
Four virtual adapters
If you are using VIOS 1.1.1, the virtual adapters will be first (ent0 - ent3 will be
virtual). If you are using VIOS 1.2.1, the physical adapters will be first (ent0 - ent2
will be physical).
Using lsdev -dev entX -vpd, associate each virtual adapter name to its port
VLAN ID (PVID), using the slot number. Make notes in Table 25, VIOS Virtual
Adapters, on page 15. Weve provided the slot number to PVID associations based
on the slot numbers we suggested in Table 12, VIOS I/O Definition, on page 10. If
you used different slot numbers, make the appropriate substitutions.

__ 13. Next you need to identify which physical adapters are connected to the network. If
you only have the Integrated Dual Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, this is obvious - they
both must be connected. If you have an additional adapter, you must know which
adapters are connected to you network. Note which adapters are connected in the
table below:

Table 26: VIOS Physical Adapters

__ 14. Create the first shared Ethernet adapter (SEA). This adapter should link VLAN 1
with the external network using one of the physical adapters which is connected to
the network. You should have two virtual adapters with PVID=1 and two physical
adapters connected to the network. Choose one of each and create the first SEA.
In our example, if ent0 and ent1 are physical adapters connected to the network
and ent3 and ent6 are virtual adapters with a PVID of 1, you could use ent0 and
ent3 to create the first SEA as shown below:
$ mkvdev -sea ent0 -vadapter ent3 -default ent3 -defaultid 1
__ 15. Create the second shared Ethernet adapter (SEA). This adapter should link VLAN 4
with the external network using one of the physical adapters which is connected to
the network. Choose the physical adapter not used in the previous step and the
virtual adapter with PVID=4 and create the second SEA.
In our example, if ent1 is the physical adapter connected to the network that was not
used in the previous step and ent4 is the virtual adapter with a PVID of 4, you could
use the following command to create the second SEA:
$ mkvdev -sea ent1 -vadapter ent4 -default ent4 -defaultid 4

__ 16. Configure the TCP/IP settings for the partition. Use the mktcpip command to
configure IP access to the VIOS partition. Use the second virtual Ethernet adapter
with PVID=1 and the IP address, hostname, etc. for the VIOS partition.
In our example, ent3 and ent6 are the two adapters with PVID=1. ent3 was used in
the first SEA (step __ 14., on page 15), so we used en6. This example assumes the
hostname, IP address, netmask, gateway and DNS information used in our lab.
Replace with the correct values for your environment. Again, DNS is optional.
$ mktcpip -interface en6 -hostname laurel175.beaverton.ibm.com \
-inetaddr 9.47.88.175 -netmask 255.255.255.0 -start \
-gateway 9.47.88.1 -nsrvaddr 9.0.8.1 -nsrvdomain beaverton.ibm.com

__ 17. The following sequence of steps will create virtual SCSI target devices for your AIX
partitions. You must provide a minimum of 5GB for each AIX LPAR. The two steps
below show two different ways to accomplish this:

LSG __ a. If you have enough disks so that each AIX LPAR can have its own disk, you can
create the virtual SCSI target devices using a full disk as the backing store for
the virtual SCSI device for each LPAR.
In our example, hdisk0 is the rootvg for the VIOS. The disks hdisk1, hdisk2,
hdisk3 and hdisk4 are used to create the virtual SCSI target devices using
using the following commands:
$ mkvdev -vdev hdisk1 -vadapter vhost0
$ mkvdev -vdev hdisk2 -vadapter vhost1
$ mkvdev -vdev hdisk3 -vadapter vhost2
$ mkvdev -vdev hdisk4 -vadapter vhost3
__ b. Alternatively, you could create a separate logical volume for each AIX LPAR. And
then use the LVs as backing store for the virtual SCSI devices.
The example assumes that you have sufficient space in rootvg:
$ mklv -lv lpar5_rootvg rootvg 5G hdisk0
$ mklv -lv lpar6_rootvg rootvg 5G hdisk0
$ mklv -lv lpar7_rootvg rootvg 5G hdisk0
$ mklv -lv lpar8_rootvg rootvg 5G hdisk0

$ mkvdev -vdev lpar5_rootvg -vadapter vhost0

$ mkvdev -vdev lpar6_rootvg -vadapter vhost1
$ mkvdev -vdev lpar7_rootvg -vadapter vhost2
$ mkvdev -vdev lpar8_rootvg -vadapter vhost3
__ 18. This concludes the configuration of the VIOS partition.

AIX Partition Set Up Instructions

Use the following information in addition to the normal software installation procedures to
set up each of the AIX partitions. Each AIX partition (rte, srv, sys1 and sys2) has an
identical configuration.
It is strongly suggested that you use NIM to speed installation. You can use the
mksysb_534_q1307 mksysb provided, or you can install one partition following the
instructions below. Then create a NIM mksysb resource from this partition and use that
mksysb to install the other AIX partitions.
Each managed system has 4 AIX partitions, so it is worth the investment to configure a NIM
environment to perform the install. This will allow you to install all four AIX partitions on a
managed system concurrently, since if you install from CD media, you will only be able to
install one partition at a time.
You may perform a non-prompted restore of the NIM mksysb resource on a partition if you
use a BOSINST_DATA resource configured with the CONSOLE field set to /dev/vty0.

The following instructions reference the partition LPARX. Substitute LPARX with the name
of the partition you are installing (rte, srv, sys1 or sys2) .
__ 1. Activate the partition LPARX using its profile.
__ 2. Connect to the LPARX partition using the HMC virtual console.
__ 3. Install AIX 5L V5.3 ML04 either using CD media or from a NIM server.
__ 4. Verify the following steps, most of these steps will not be needed if you are installing
using a mksysb:
__ a. Configure the TCP/IP settings and hostname using en0. (you may not have to do
this if you installed the AIX image from a NIM server).
__ b. Once the base install of AIX is complete, install the following filesets if they are
not already installed:
- All filesets from the bos.net package, except
bos.net.ipsec.websm
bos.net.mobip6.rte
__ c. Configure the date, time and time zone correctly (you may not have to do this if
you installed the AIX image from a NIM server).
__ d. Edit the file /etc/netsvc.conf to contain an entry as follows:
hosts = local,bind
__ e. IMPORTANT: Please perform this step.
Copy the tar file to each partition. Extract the lab files using the following
command:
# tar xvf q1307.tar
# cp /etc/hosts /etc/hosts.orig
# cp /etc/hosts.rte /etc/hosts
__ f. Rename any /etc/resolv.conf files:
# mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf.hide

Verification and final configuration

Perform the following steps to verify the class setup.
__ 5. Verify that the rte LPARs have /etc/hosts that matches the following list. If not, edit
and add these entries:
# Internet Address Hostname # Comments
127.0.0.1 loopback localhost# loopback (lo0) name/address

__ 12. IMPORTANT: Please perform this step:
Clear the default gateway on all AIX systems.
On each AIX partition (rte, srv, sys2 and sys1):
First you need to get the current default route, if there is one:
# netstat -rn|grep default
default 9.47.88.1 UG 0 0 en0 - -
If there is no default route, you are done with this step. If there is a default route, use
lsattr to gather the route definition from the ODM:
# lsattr -El inet0 -a route
route net,-hopcount,0,,0,9.47.88.1 Route True
Then use the output from the lsattr command as arguments for the chdev
command to remove the route:
# chdev -l inet0 -a delroute=net,-hopcount,0,,0,9.47.88.1
inet0 changed
Finally verify that the default route is removed:
# netstat -rn
__ 13. This concludes the configuration and verification of the AIX partitions.
