1. Main Circuit: Forget about this part.

Consider K1 as like a switch used in our home for fan, light etc. The difference is
that in our house we control only one phase whether here we are controlling 3phase or 3phase-1neutral
connection.
2. Control Circuit: What we do, when we turn on the fan or light? We turn on the switch by hand. Here is the beauty of
the control circuit. Here you are using this control circuit which will control the switch K1 (the switch in main circuit).
Lets start the journey. :D
2.1. Power of Control Circuit: For operating the control circuit, you need the power. How can you get that? So you
have to take a single phase connection from any of the tree lines (In a.Main Circuit there is three phase L1, L2
and L3). For safety you can use a fuse (F3) as like we used fuse at our home circuit board. It is not mandatory.
You can ignore that if you dont want lot of precaution.
2.2. How the circuit works?: At first you push the switch S1. It is always an open switch. But when you push you
make the contact. So current can easily pass through the circuit from supply L1 to Main Contact K1 (look at box
part in figure b). That box part in figure b) indicates the K1 in figure a. When K1(box) got the power it makes the
contact and your motor will get the power from 3 phase line. In the meantime it will also close the switch K1 in
figure b.
2.2.1.What will happen when you are not pushing the switch after first press? When you first press the S1 that
time you see that, K1(box) activated so, K1 in figure a and K1 in figure b become closed. Now if you are not
pressing your S1 will be open but as K1 is closed in figure b, so current will go through the alternate path
and you will have the power in K1(box). So you circuit is still active and your motor will run.
2.2.2.How to stop: If you press S0 it will disconnect the power line(L1) from K1(box). So K1 in Main circuit will
also lost the contact and your motor will be off.
2.2.3.How Trip: There is an overload relay in your circuit. When more current is flowing through the line that its
contact will be bended as we know more current makes more heat. If the contact bended a definite length
then it will lose the contact and become open, So K1 (Box) will be disconnected from L1, and main circuit
will become off.
2.3. Trick to remember: On switch is parallel with K1 whether safely features for tuning off the circuit as like F3, F0
and S0 is in series connection.
