Responsibilities

All Staf
Only use materials as intended within Method Statement
Check signage on waste bins and skips ALWAYS dispose of waste
into the correct container, bin or skip
Report missing, incorrectly labelled or full bins to the supervisor
immediately
Keep materials which can be re-used separately from waste, and
return to storage once task is complete
Report waste disposed of into the wrong container, bin or skip
Regularly tidy the work area and dispose of waste into correct bins /
skips
ASK THE SUPERVISOR if you are not sure what category a waste falls
under

Supervisors
Ensure all workers understand waste segregation requirements
Before starting work, assess which waste streams could be
generated and arrange for appropriate waste containers at the work
front
Ensure all waste bins are correctly labelled
Ensure that all wastes are transported from the working area to the
main waste storage area at the end of each working day, or more
frequently as required
Responsible for ensuring wastes are fully segregated and personnel
follow rules
Responsible for ensuring waste is not dumped in other areas of site
Responsible for ensuring materials are reused where possible, and
not needlessly disposed of
Responsible for arranging return of containers to suppliers for reuse
or recycling, where accepted
Responsible for contacting the HSE department to arrange new
waste skips / containers in time to prevent them overflowing

HSE Department

Responsible for arranging pick up of wastes regularly, following


notification of full containers by Supervisors
Responsible for auditing waste segregation according to site rules
Ensure that waste is only collected by contractors licensed by Dubai
Municipality
Responsible for getting transfer notes from waste disposal
contractors for every collection of waste
Following notification of waste requirements by supervisors,
responsible for ordering suitable waste skips and ensuring they are
labelled / sign posted appropriately
Responsible for reporting waste transfer collections on a weekly
basis, in the Weekly Environmental Monitoring Report and sending
to HEI.
