Future Authoring: Reflection

Reflection Level 1:

The assignment was to write about and describe my perfect life, and to include how I would feel,

the relationships I would have, my meaning, and my accomplishments. So that is exactly what I

did except the way I went about organizing my paper was maybe a litter different than how

others chose to do it. I decided to write about the things I wanted out of my perfect life

chronologically, starting with my career, my family, and eventually my dream home. Of course

in each section describing how accomplishing these goals would make me feel and how they

would add value to my idea of a perfect life. After completing the supplemental assignment

Reaching Yourself and thinking about what was truly important to me in terms of my future life

and what I wanted it to include this seemed like a natural flow for the paper and only made sense

to write about this topic in that way. In terms of helped that I received with this assignment, the

feedback that Ms. Jizi offered I thought was very useful in cleaning up the paper and allowing

for the important details to stand out. All in all this assignment was probably my favorite that we

did all year because it allowed me to consider my future much more than I ever had previously.

In a way it allowed me to see what is truly important to me in terms of creating the life that I

want, and offered a rough sketch of how to get there.

Reflection Level 2:

I was very happy with the way that the final draft of my Future Authoring paper turned out. I

believe I did a particularly good job of capturing what is truly important to me and my future life

and what will add value to my future life. If anything at all needed more work I would say that I

could have added more detail on how accomplishing these goals would make me feel. However,

it is hard to describe emotions that you have not yet felt, so with that in mind I think that my

descriptions on how I will feel were okay.

Reflection Level 3:

In terms of writing a paper about my future I dont know if I would choose to do anything

differently that what I did. I managed to get a lot out of this assignment, including an idea of

what I want to do when I get out of college, so I dont think there is much else I could have done

with this assignment. I think that this assignment can be used in other practical ways outside of

what I used it for. Because of the fact that it forces you to think about the future, and what is

truly important to your future I can use this assignment, or maybe redo this assignment whenever

I have doubts about the way my life is going. This paper that I wrote has a lot of useful

applications to me and will definitely be something I will hold on to.
