WEBSITE AND CLASSROOM BLOG CREATION TOOLS

Name: Maria Arredondo

Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other website-
creation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

MGSE6.G.4 Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles
and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these
techniques in the context of solving realworld and mathematical problems

Brief Description of Learning Experience: With this lesson students will creating their 3D figures via a
computer program called Tinkercad. The teacher will introduce this program during class. Students will
receive the opportunity to work on their Tinkercad projects. Once students have a project completed they
will upload their picture to the blog post. In the blog they will post their creation and their mathematical
problem. Students are to choose 2 problems from their peers to solve. It should take 1-2 days. Other
mathematicians and middle schoolers will be their target area for this assignment.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):

This would be a LoTi Level 4 because students are creating a product that will be shared with not only their
peers but others outside the classroom.
Importance of technology: It is critical to the product because students need somewhere to place their
figures and a way where they can interact with their peers and others. Although for differentiation students
could bring their project in as a hardcopy version.

Inspiration (optional): https://www.tinkercad.com/things/?page=1 I borrowed their idea of creating 3-D

figures online.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: To minimize possible safety and privacy issues students will only
create usernames that will not include their first or last name. Student work will be original therefore it will
comply with the copyright policies.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My goal for this activity is that students are able to
interact with technology and create a product. This software also allows for 3-D printing and that would be
another goal if we could print out their projects, but for now it is for them to develop a figure and for them
to come up with a way to use that in their lives.
