Defining the order of the lessons:
1. Horizontal: Each lesson is related and sub sequential. The level increases with
each lesson.
2. Vertical: The whole body of lessons defines the program (Guitar Technique)
but each lesson can be extracted and independently handled by the student.

Writing a script for each lesson.

1. Balancing the text/spoken words with the music examples.

2. Using a specific structure:

Introduction: Exposing the subject of the lesson and what the student
is going to learn. In this lesson we are going to
Music Examples: They define the subject you are talking about using
non-verbal communication. Crucial for motivation and understanding
the music value of the subject discussed.
Theoretical Explanation. It should be aural (spoken words) and
visual (virtual black board with notes, chord symbols, diagrams etc)
Study Routine. It gives concrete exercises in the form of etudes or
small music fragments that the student can use at home in his daily
practicing routine. It is based on the principle of zooming in.
Assignments. Although already hidden in the study routine section,
they should help the student not only internalize the discussed material
but also build a study routine and show him a pragmatic, immediate
and intuitive application of the material discussed in the lesson.
Goodies. It is often a part of the lesson where the teacher has the
room for own remarks and stating musical point of views in the form
of practicing tips, live experience, etc. It motivates the student and it
can help show a diverse and more personal approach to the discussed
subject.

3. Checking the balance between motivation-inspiration and explanation/


assignments.
Techniques

1. Opening with a music jingle and a text describing the subject: When
having several video icons on a computer, it immediately allows the
student to recognize the topic of each single video.
2. Balk at the bottom of the page: It helps the student knowing exactly
where he is during the video. Essential for playing forward and
backwards.
3. Introducing each section of the video with a text and 5-8 seconds. It
gives structure and clarity to the whole and allows the student to walk
to grab his instrument after a spoken explanation.
4. Using traditional music notation combined with:

Self help internet based notation: Tablature.


Visualisation notation: Neck Diagrams

5. Always keep in mind the motivation aspect: Enhancing the importance


of having fun while practicing, making each musical fragments
accessible, playable.
6. Using a standard video format and program.
7. Using a standard background.
8. Using a standard friendly, spontaneous, relaxed and positive attitude
when speaking.
9. Using a standard length of the videos: 4-10 minutes.
