Is Saturn in 8th house good or bad for longevity?

There is a general saying by some that Saturn in 8th house indicates long life by being the
karaka of the 8th house and longevity. But the following empirical study of 21 charts with
Saturn in 8th houses shows the opposite result. Out of 21 charts under study, only 4
charts survive over 70 years of age.
In this study longevity is found generally shortened by the Ascendant cuspal sub lord
(CSL)s connection to Badhaka (11th house for moving, 9th for fixed and 7th for common
sign Ascendants), Maraka (2,7 houses) and 6 (sickness),8 (serious ailment, danger to life),12
(Moksha) houses, without getting significant help from live saving 1,5,11 signification.
The Dasa/Bhukti/Antra/Sookshama lords at the time of death are generally satisfied the
KP death rule of signifying Badhaka, Maraka, Moksha, 6,8,12 houses, along with 4 (end of
everything), and 10 (retirement from this world).

Illegitimate Birth

The word "Illegitimate" stands for illegal, unlawful, illicit, against the law etc. In case of child
birth, when the parents are not lawfully married to each other, the child is known as Illegiti-
mate or a Bastard person.
There is no argument that each and everything in this universe is under the purview of
planets and hence there should be Astrological reasons for this type of births. When we go
through the classical astrological treatises, we can see two comments delivered by great
sages with some astrological behavior of the planets in a natal chart of so called bastard
births.
A) Varaha Mihira, who is highly praised as the father of Hindu Astrology, has said in his
Brihat Jathaka, Chapter 5, Stanza 4 as below.
If Jupiter aspects neither the Lagna nor the Moon, or if there is no aspect of Jupiter
on Sun and Moon located in one sign, the birth should be declared without doubt as
BASTARD. It is also a bastard birth if Sun and Moon are in the company of the malef-

B) King Kalyanavarma says in his Saravali, chapter 9, stanza 32 & 33,

Moon, or Lagna sans Jupiters aspect; Luminaries being together without Jupiters as-
pect; Luminaries along with malefics not receiving the aspect of Jupiter; Sun, Moon
and Jupiter simultaneously in fall, while Saturn is in Lagna, and Lagna, Moon and Ve-
nus not being in aspect to Jupiter, lead to birth outside wedlock.
However in 2009, one KP follower from India, has gone through some bastard natal charts,
using these two rules, to find out the validityof the rules but in vain and posed a conun-
drum to arrive at a KP rule for illegitimate births. At that time, no rule for bastard births
was available in KP, and no KP astrologer has undertaken any studies in this regard. Even
today, according to my knowledge, no KP rule for bastard births has been adopted by any-
one.
As a researcher of KP, I hope and trust that the below study of illegitimate birth will fill the
gap in KP. For this study, I have examined 10 bastard charts.
Bastard child is born as a result of living together with a male out of wedlock by the mother
of the native. In other words, it is a love affair that goes beyond ethics to have enjoyment in
the form of extra-marital sexual relations. Secret or open love and sexuality is under the
rule of the 5th cusp in KP.
KP rule for extra marital sex:
If the sub lord of the 2nd cusp is connected with the 11th house, one will keep a keep. (KP
Reader 4, 1984/2002 Edition, page 146)
All matters of physical pleasure, including Pursuit of pleasure, Rape, Sensuous enjoyments,
Sex instincts, Sexual involvement, Social intercourse between sexes prior to wedlock, Extra
marital sex are ruled by the 5th cusp.

Let's see the rule as per KP House Grouping- Part 1" of Sri Tin win ji, in the KP-EZine Octo-
ber 2007 issue.
"The scandalous love affairs are indicated if the 5 th cuspal sub lord signifies the 5th
house (love affair, sex for fun), 8th house (secrecy, sexuality, issues of manipulation,
insults, licentious, and scandals) and 12th house (secrets, bed pleasure, loss of repu-
tation, self-undoing, enemies) during the joint dasa period of the significators of
5,8,12 houses.
At the same time we have to look for the planet Venus, that makes a person crave for the
opposite sex. Venus (pleasure, sex, indulgence, relationships, fun, female energy) connec-
tion with Mars (sexual energy, drives, lust especially in conjunction with Venus, action,
male energy).
Generally, all extra-marital matters of a person are called "licentiousness". (In Sinhalese
"Anaacharaya", In Hindi "Duraachaar", in Tamil "Kaamaveri"), ruled out by the 8th house.
Below are the rules for Pre & Extra Marital relations as per the KP House Grouping of Sri
Tin Win ji.
1) Enjoying pre-marital sex (having a love affair with sexual relations): if the 5th cusp sub
lord signifies houses 5 & 12 or 5 & 8 or 11 & 8, then it occurs in the DBA of the signifi-
cators of houses 5,8,12,11.
2) Scandalous love affair: if the 5th cusp sub lord signifies houses 5,8,12, then it occurs in
the DBA of the significators of houses 5,8,12 .
3) Having an affair with one's partner: if the 5th cusp sub lord signifies houses 8,5,11, then
it occurs in the DBA of the significators of houses 8,5,11.
4) Keeping a keep/ mistress: if the 5th cusp sub lord signifies houses 7,11,2, then it occurs
in the DBA of the significators of houses 11 and 2 (without 7).
5) Keeping a keep: if the 2nd cusp sub lord signifies house 11 (without 7), then it occurs in

bastard native, the 4th house (Mother) is to be taken as the Ascendant of the mother. The

3) Nodes
Astrologically, Nodes Rahu and Kethu are not considered as retrograding planets. But, their
actual transition is backwards, and in most of my studies I have found, and repeatedly dis-
cussed in this journal about nodes, who act similar to planets in retrogression. Even in this
study, Rahu or Kethu presents Saturn, the chief indicator of illegitimacy (as in table 1), and
Venus, in all the charts under study.
Findings
1) Saturn presents for 5th house in almost all charts (100%).
2) Retrograded Saturn presents as the sub lord of the 5th house in 5 charts out of 10 (50%).
3) Venus signifies cusps 4 or 5 or 8 or 11.
4) Nodes are representing both Saturn and Venus.
Conclusion
If Saturn be the star or sub or any type of significator for the 5th cusp, and Venus is con-
nected with cusps 4 or 5 or 8 or 11, and Saturn, and/or Venus, is represented by Rahu or
Kethu, the native is an illegitimate birth.

Due to difficulties of collecting the correct natal charts of illegitimate births, I have selected 10
of the most accurate charts from known sources. Hence, this conclusion will not be the final
rule for the issue. But I request all KPEZine readers to test this gear with personally known
births of bastards and to contribute towards framing a final KP rule for Illegitimacy, in order
for us to fulfill the ambitions of our great Guru Sri K S Krishnamurthy and for the sake of KP
followers.

My wife and her brother were trying to help their cousins in getting their legitimate share of
money from their uncle. They were worried about their efforts in settling the matters by me-
diation process as elders and well-wishers of both the families. This process was going on
for more than two or three months. When I saw my wife was worried about the outcome of
her efforts in helping the children, I, too, got curious about it, and suddenly it struck my
mind that I should know the result with the help of astrology and that too through our fa-
vorite KP system applying its horary methods.
On 2nd Feb 2017, at 12:18:17 pm, I plotted a time chart for the query whether our cousins
will get their money from their uncle? If so, when?
What do the KP rules say in this regard?

If the sub lord of the 8th cusp (sudden monetary gains) signifies houses 2- money income,
11- accomplishment of the efforts and fulfillment of desire, 8- sudden monetary gains /
windfall/ unexpected income, then the matter in question will be materialized.
Analysis as per the chart

The sub lord of the 8th cusp is RAHU. Rahu is placed in the 4th. Rahu is in Kethu star who
is placed in the 10th, and in the sub of Saturn, lord of the 10th and 11th and placed in the
8th.
Rahu represents Sun, lord of the 5th placed in the 10th, and Sun, through its sub lord Mer-
cury, signifies the 6th also.
Kethu, the star lord, represents Saturn who is lord of the 10th and 11th, placed in the 8th.
Thus, the sub lord of the 8th cusp, Rahu, signifies houses 4 and 10 at the star level, and
houses 8 and 11 at its sub lord level. It shows that the event of getting money is promised.
The 11th cusp indicates my cousins uncle (11th is the 3rd house from the 9th house), and its
sub lord is Venus +. No planets are placed in Venus stars and, therefore, Venus strongly
signifies at its star and sub lord levels- Saturn10, 8, 11. Thus, the 11th cusp promises the
receipt of money by way of sudden gains from their uncle.
Since Rahu signifies the 6th also through Sun (Sun being in Mercury sub), it indicates the
receipt of money by way of cheque. (If the 8th cusp sub lord signifies houses 6 & 11, one will
receive money by cheques, and the opponent loses.)
Normally, the 7th house indicates with whom the native transacts, and the 6 th house indi-
cates negation of the 7th due to which it causes a loss to the 7th, which also consequently,
indicates profit to the native.
The sub lord of the 6th cusp, Venus +, influences houses 2 and 11 as a co-ruler and signi-
fies the 11th and 7th houses.
The 3rd house indicates appeal by the cousins to their uncle for payment of their share of
money.
The sub lord of the 3rd cusp is Jupiter+. No planet is placed in Jupiter stars and so Jupiter
strongly signifies the 3rd house and its representative matters appeal with their cousin
uncle.
Jupiter is in the star of Mars, who is lord of the 1 st and 8th and posited in the 11th. It is in
the sub of Saturn who is the lord of the 10th and 11th and is placed in the 8th. Thus, Jupiter
+ strongly signifies the 11th at both levels, and assures success of our appeal and efforts.
Ruling Planets at the time of judgment are

As per Kanak Bosmias rule, check the third cuspal sub lord. If it signifies houses ten &
eleven, then the victory is sure.
So, based on the above rule, the chart was framed on date: 5.3.2017, Time 4:47 PM, Place
Delhi and Horary Number 249. The analysis is as under:
The 3rd cuspal sub lord is Jupiter(R), which is lord of the1st house & 10th house, posted in
the 7th house. It is aspecting the 11th house and the first house. Jupiter is in the star of
Mars which is posted in the 1st house, and Jupter is in the sub of Saturn, which is lord of
the eleventh placed in the ninth house. Saturn is in the star of Ketu which is in the
eleventh house.
So, the third cuspal sub,lord signifies the houses 1, 10, and 11 which gives the
indications of victory for the BJP party in the 2017election.
Now, here I also calculated how many seats BJP will get. For this purpose, I took houses
(1, 6 &11). First house Lagna (Party BJP), sixth house competition, & eleventh house
fulfillment of desires or achievements.
a) Take the cuspal sub lord of the first house which is the planet Saturn. It is in the
star of Ketu. The positional Degree of Saturn is 20 -53 in Dhanu Rasi, and star of
Ketu is up to 130-20. So, the remaining degree (duration) is 130 -20 minus 20 53
= 100 27 i.e. 627 minutes.
b) Take the cuspal sub lord of the sixth house which is Mars. It is in Mesha Rashi,
and in the star of Ketu. Mars positional Degree is 20 37 and Ketu star ends at 130
20. So, the remaining (duration) degree is 130 20 minus 20 37 = 10 57 i.e.
657 minutes.
c) Take the cuspal sub lord of the 11th house which is again Saturn, as explained
above, the remaining duration is 627 minutes
Now total (sum up) the remaining minutes (9) + (b) + (c) = 627 + 657 + 627 minutes = 1911
And, total minutes are 2400.

So, total seats are 403 in election.
The number of seats which BJP will get is 403x1911/2400 = 320.88, say 321 seats.
This was my opinion that BJP will get more than 320 seats

Post analysis: When an event has occurred as per astrological prediction made, more often
than not I have found a seventy percent, approximately, accuracy in the selection of the
antara period that is generally based on selection from within the common significator
planets.
Selection of sookshkma is still a subject of research. In this case, the common planets have
been considered in the selection of the dasha, bhukti and antara. The remaining planet was
Ketu, that could have been considered to find the exact period of the event. But, in this
case, the bail was actually granted during the sookshama of Rahu . Rahu is not among the
common planets, but Rahu is a significator of the fourth house. In conclusion, we can say
that selection of sookhshma is not based on some strictly laid down guidelines. Only
intuition and logical reasoning on the part of an astrologer works in its selection. That is
why astrology is considered as a divine science.

This is the horary question raised in my mind after observing the ongoing controversies on
the T.V. At random, I got the horary number 59 from an astrology book lying on my table
and I plotted a horary chart on 30-12-2016 @13-29-58 hours at my residence in
Secundrabad. The chart is attached.
What do the KP rules say in this regard--- (reader no.3 pages-390 to-398)
Planets connected with becoming MLA/ MP/ councilor/Mayor/Minister---
-Mercury should be well placed.
-Mars is for power, courage to face the public, and to acquire authority, and it should be
well placed.
-Saturn is for holding positions of trust.
-Jupiter is for becoming a good orator.
Main houses to be judged---1-6-9-10 and 11
1st house-to enjoy power and benefits out of it.
6th house- loss to opponents and victory over enemies.
9th house-bhagya sthana- bank position of meritorious karma of previous birth and
providential help.
10- house- name, fame, status, power, popularity and position.
11th house- success in elections and accomplishment of ones desire.
For defeat in politics----5-8-12 houses-(negative houses for success).
What is the rule(Tin Winhouse grouping-page 11)if the sub lord of the 10th cusp
signifies houses 1-6-9-10-and 11, one will acquire a pivotal position in politics.
CHART ANALYSIS---
The sub lord of the 10th cusp is Venus, lord of houses 5 and 12 and placed in the 8th.
Venus is in the star of Mars and sub of Mercury. The star lord Mars is the lord of houses 6
and 11 and placed in the 8th, and the sub lord Mercury is the lord of houses 1 and 4 and
placed in the 6th.
Thus, Venus, the sub lord of the 10th, signifies houses 5, 6, 8, 11 and 12 at its star level,
and houses 1, 4 and 6 at its sub level. Here, houses 5-8-12 clearly indicate failure and
houses 1, 6 and 11 at the star level, and the 6th at the sub level, indicate partial success.
This is the picture with more negative shades than positive colors in the outcome.
In view of this confusion, I wanted to check the rule for failure also.

As per the chart the 10th cuspal sub lord is VENUS- lord of houses 5 and 12 placed in the 8th.
Venus is in Mars star, and Mars is the lord of houses 6 and 11 placed in the 8 th, and in the
sub of Mercury who is lord of houses 1 and 4 placed in the 6th.
Thus, Venus signifies houses 5,6,8,11,12 at star level, and houses 1,4,6 at sub level. Here
only the 11th at its star level is indicated but not any other houses at its sub lord a
decider- level.
Significators of ---3rd house=Moon- Sun/
10th house-Jup- Sat- Venus/ 11th house- Jup-Venus- Mars
Dasa analysisSun dasa X Sun bhukthi is now running. Sun signifies-houses 6-8-12 at the

So, as per sri Kanak Jis rule also it does not favor any positive results.

What is K.P Rule for the above mentioned question? Please let me know it clearly Sir.
My Opinion:- Padaprapti/ Highest Position is indicated by the 7th house. If the 7th cusp sub-
lord signifies 5 and 12, One will be dethroned during the conjoined period of the significators
of 5 & 12.
Do you agree with my opinion? Or disagree? If so what is specific rule for it?
1.2 Please tell me the rule below is correct.

If the 10th CSL signifies 5, 8, 12 the king will be dethroned during the DBA of 5, 8,
12.

Question 2: Married Life

By KPDP rules and KP ASTRO 4.1 software, we can predict the future of married life for any
no. of years as per requirement. Of course this is with birth details.
If a married couple approach for the future for their married life for the next 5/10 years, how
we should proceed? They do not have birth details. Is it possible by HORARY? If so, how to
proceed. I request you for your kind advice for this.

Question 3:
I have seen so many articles in KPEZine, that birth time is rectified and predictions are given
even though the querent does not express his doubt about the birth time.
MR. Kanak Bosmia has written a book on " BTR".
In view of this, Is it necessary to rectify the birth time, before analysis as per the Ruling
planets. If so, the corrected birth time may vary even up to 6 to 7 minutes on either side.Is it
acceptable. With the corrected birth time, the sub lords of many houses may change from the
original and so the predictions.
I request for your valuable suggestions on this subject.
Answer 3:
It is advisable to do birth time rectification if and only if the birth time rectification is
doubtful by the native himself or herself.
Because the rectified birth time may differ from astrologer to astrologer, method to meth-
od, time to time and so it is rated as C rank.
The bottom line is that no body knows what is the correct birth time and there is no
agreement even what is the birth time.
Question 4: Conjunction/ Aspects

If a planet, say, SUN aspects KETU, ketu gives the result of sun. Sun will not give the re-
sult of Ketu, as it is a shadow planet.
If SUN aspects say MOON, can MOON give the results SUN and/or vice versa, by 7th as-
pect?.
By 5th aspect, Ju aspects say SUN. Then JU will give the result of SUN or su will give the
result of JU?.
If two planets are in co-joined , say mars and venus, in a house.

Can we say that mars will give the result of venus and venus will give the result of mars?
Answer 4:
The KP grade E significator by conjunction/ aspects is the planet which is conjoined or
aspected by grade A,B,C,D significators.
It is correct that If a planet, say, SUN aspects KETU, ketu gives the result of sun. Sun will
not give the result of Ketu, as it is a shadow planet. Conjunction/ aspect with Rahu/
Ketu is one way effect and two ways effect is generally taken for other planets. Both 7 th
and special aspects re generally taken. Regarding If two planets are in co-joined , say
mars and venus, in a house. Hindu conjunction/ aspect is by Rasi sign not by house.
Question 5: Choice of DBAS

In selection of DBA lords, Once we select Dasa lord, we will select the bhukti lord as per the
sequence of Vimsottari dasa lords.
Some times, I have seen in some examples, that the same dasa lord is selected as bhukti
lord and also some times as the antara lord also.
I request you for your kind clarification for the criteria of the selection of
1. Bhukti lord also as dasa lord. and
2. Bhukti lord and antara lord also as dasa lord.

Answer 5:
It can happen in practical materialization of events. But it is very hard to do so in predic-
tion.
Question 6: Effects Of Bhadhaka/ Maraka

I understand that MARAKA AND BHADHAKA houses are to used only for longevity.
But some people are using for prediction for some other events, telling that the event failed
due to signification of maraka/ bhadhaka house.
How far is it justified/ true?.
If that is the case, 2,7 and 11 for marriage. and at the same time 2, 7 and 11 houses are for
maraka and bhadhaka for aries, cancer, libra and capricorn born.
How this is justified?
Answer 6:
Generally Badhaka/ Maraka is bad for health and longevity only. By sequence of time 2,7
Maraka generally indicates happy time with playmates in younger age, marriage in middle
age and death at elder age.
Question 7:
I have lot of confusion over the selection of DASA LORD.
1. Some persons say it should be a common planet between fruitful significators and Ruling
planets.
2. As per book by Sri CR Bhatt, "Jyotish Abhigyan " Page-100, , dasa lord can be selected
from significators if it is connected to the houses of event eventhough it is not common signifi-
cator between RP and fruitful significator. Not even in the list of significators.
3. Form the same book, Page- 124, says, Event will happen during the joint period of RPs.
That means, the dasa lord should be , ONE from the RPs.
With all this I am in a confused mind.
So, Sir, I request you, to educate for a learner like me, with your valuable suggestions/
comments/ remarks.
Answer 7:
In this book "Jyotish Abhigyan " originally published in 2004, in choosing the BDAS lords
without using the ruling planets in many solved examples, that example on page 100 solved
in 2001 seems to show an exceptional possible case that the event happened during the
Dasa lord which is not a common significator among the significators for the event and
ruling planets. Here it is found that Dasa lord's sub lord played the role of significator in the
context of the double role of sub as a decider as well as significator. It has been found in
many cases that the event is promised or materialized by the sub's signification alone.

It is a common practice to choose the common significator planets among grade A,B,C,D
significators and ruling planets in choosing DBAS lords by using ruling planets.
In choosing the DBAS lords without using ruling planets, choosing the A,B,C,D significa-
tors planets in the sub of sigmificators of events (EF significators). So if the 6 fold
(A,B,C,D,E,F) signfictors table is used, there will be no role of sub as a decider which is the
corner stone of KP.
Question 8:
I am going through the question and answers in KPAZine old issues.
In May-2014 issue, Question No: 3, Under Para 14, it was mentioned that
" WHETHER A PLANET IS THE CSL OR DASA PERIOD LORD IT'S SIGNIFICATIONS ARE TO BE
CONSIDERED AT THE PLANET, ITS STAR AND SUB LEVELS "
In case of marriage, if 7CSL signifies either at planet level or at star level or at sub level signi-

fies either 2 or 7 or 11, marriage is promised.
Similarly, in case of DASA LORD , I under stand that the dasa lord either at planet level or at
star level or at sub level signifies either 2 or 7 or 11, marriage is promised in its dasa period.
The same rule applies to bhukti lord, antara lord and sukshma lord also.
Answer 8: Negative Signification to Marriage by Sub of &th CSL and DBAS lords
It is the same to consider at all three levels of a planet. The difference is in the signification
of negative 1,6,10 houses to marriage at the sub level. If it is signification of 7 th cuspal sub
lord, marriage is promised as long as 2 or 7 or 11 house is signified at any level of planet,
star, sub. But such negative signification is indicated by the sub of DBAS lords, that
DBAS lord may not be chosen as a fruitful significator.

This Jyotish Abhigyan is the sixth book in English by Chandrakant R Bhatt, after
Nakshatra Chintamani, Further Lights on Nakshatra Chintamani, Horoscopes and
Diseases, Nirayan Horoscopes and Western Aspects and Prashna Jyotish.
This book clearly explains how to practically apply KP rules in a chart interpretation and
prediction with support of 35 solved natal charts. It is easy to look up any subject in this
book that is well organized by topics and cases.
It is worthy to note that timing of event is fixed in many solved examples without using the
ruling planets. In one exceptional solved example the event happened during the Dasa lord
which is not a common significator among the significators for the event and ruling planets.
(p 100) That Dasa lord's sub lord played the role of significator in the context of the double
role of sub as a decider as well as significator. It has been found in many cases that the
event is promised and materialized by the sub's signification alone.
The usage of cusp and bhava/house is to be cleared here. The 1st bhava is from 1st cusp to
2nd cusp, 2nd bhava is from 2nd cusp to 3rd cusp and so on. The marriage significators
are 2,7,11 'houses' but not 'cusps'. So the significators for any event are for concerned
'bhavas' like in the significators table on p 118 but not 'cusps' like in the significators tables
on pages 52, 55, 94 etc. When a planet occupies a house, that planet is said to be in the
'house' but not 'cusp'.

The so-called general observation that when any planet is conjoined with or aspected by
Saturn, it is under control of Saturn and does not give results (p 39-40), and the effects of
Moon and solar eclipses (p 62) are not relevant in KP practice.
With these minor observations, this 'Jyotish Abhigyan' is a very helpful KP reference book
for any KP learner like other three books: Nakshatra Chintamani, Further Lights on
Nakshatra Chintamaniis and Prashna Jyotish..
