Dear Sir. /Madam,

I hope you all are doing well. I would like to enquire about Myanmar Census 2014, please.
Since the day, census was announced; I had been interesting the process of the census until today.
I keep checking the Facebook Page, called 2014 Myanmar Population and Housing Census.
Sometimes, I commented and got some replies. Moreover, I keep visiting the website of
Department of Population as well, http://www.dop.gov.mm/moip/. Furthermore, I check another
website also, http://myanmar.unfpa.org/en that is UNFPAs. Besides, I keep eyes on the public
media and the governments newspapers about this census including all the report files.
My enquiry is that there are some rumours about UNFPA and current Government of
Myanmar. UNFPA are not patient anymore to keep doing this process and want to hand over this
project to the Myanmar Government. UNFPA gets fewer funds than before and reducing their
staffs. On the other side, Myanmar Government does not want to take the responsibility for this
Myanmar Census or the processing. This is what I heard at the moment. Not only me but also
many Myanmar social media users heard about this and it makes us confuse and worry.
Therefore,
(1) Could you please explain us about this rumour and how is the state of current processing?
(2) Data of 914 code are counted manually. Is that true or counted by scanning, please?
(3) According to Myanmar Times posted on 3rd Jan 2017, the 2014 census will be revealed within
four months, said by U Myint Kyaing, permanent secretary of the ministry. Now, we are in the
May, is there any update-to-date news about this please?
(4) Some criticise UNFPA in the case of Rohinja/Bangali. The reason why UNFPA want to help
Myanmar is to recognise Rohinja/Bangali as an Ethnic group of Myanmar through 2014 census.
But now, the government strictly denies Rohinja/Bangali from becoming an ethnic of Myanmar.
After that UNFPA is not too eager to process/help this census anymore. Is there any comment on
this please?
(5) How about the 914 code result; when could we know please? What might be the next steps
after getting the results of 2014 census including 914 code. Could it be mismatching between the
official results and what the public gave (filled up)? If yes, how does it be solved, please?

* Beyond this above enquires, is there any other transparent information please?
