Video Games Make Kids Aggressive

Does killing, shooting, and robbing people in game make kids a ticking time bomb? I did
not think so at first , So i had to do some research . I found two articles one saying that video
games actually do make kids more aggressive, and one saying that they do not Both articles
gave great reasons why they believe ,what they do . One author said video games makes kids
more aggressive , the other Lee Marshall said Blowing stuff up ( in games ) is good for your
brain While reading these two articles I was unbiased because this is a new topic to me and I do
not really know too much about it.Therefore both articles gave me knowledge that I found
interesting . After reading both articles I came to the conclusion that Article A( A being for
Anonymous writer) had the better argument with all of the supporting details, opposing details/
argument , and even a solution to the problem.
Today video gaming has become what I would call a big deal. There are competitions,

tournaments ,and even a professional league dedicated to Gaming or playing video games.

People all ages play video games today, But the group that plays video games the most are those

that are 18 and under. This has become a problem because studies show that these are the years

in a persons life that they start becoming set in their ways. Now, these years are critical to a

person mind set. Video games can either harm your mind because or the violence in them or

enhance your thinking because of the violence in them. Article A explains why these games harm

these young peoples minds, and Article B explains why these games might actually enhance

these young peoples minds.

Article B also had tons of supporting details and studies in their article. But not enough

get their whole argument across. In the article there many instances where the same topic kept

being brought up, that was an opposing supporting detail. There was even a pint in the article

when the author contradicted themselves by saying Kuhn has also found that playing logic

games, platform games and third-person shooter games were all correlated with an increase in

grey matter in the entorhinal cortex, But she also said playing action-based role-play games had

a negative correlation with grey matter. This only helped the opposing arguments reasoning.

In Article A the argument was clear , with multiple supporting details and studies that also

helped argue for the topic. What really drew me towards this topic is the fact that meta-analysis a

conducted to get the best results for the experiment. A meta-analysis analyzes multiple studies

that have been conducted to find statically significant trends among them. Also the article had

some just enough opposing details in it to let the reader know what the opposing argument might

be, But then the author bounced right back with supporting details of the original/pro argument.

Then after the author supported their argument , and mentioned the opposing argument, they then

gave solutions on to how parents can solve their problem of their kids and their video game

playing.

So both articles gave me important topics and details about the problem. But in the end

Article A had the better argument with better details and points. The author actually stated point

after point why gaming is bad for our young peoples minds. Article B brought the same

argument up over and over again. It did not have enough topics and arguments to talk and argue

about. I think this Article and argument would have had the advantage if they had more examples

debating why playing video games actually help the young people of today. That being said I will

do more research on this topic to get a better understanding about it so I too can come up with an

argument and write an article.
