LESSONIMPLEMENTATION
AnticipatorySetorWarmups Warmupwith2octaveGmajorandDmajorscales,usingfullbows,goodposture(feetflatonfloor,sittingonedgeof
seat,violinheldup,beautifulbowgripswithpinkyontopofstick)

Procedure(Instruction) 1.Thestudentswillplaya2octaveBbmajorscale,forte,4quarternotespernote.Beforeproceeding,theteacherwill
askthestudentshowtoplayatrueforteandwhattheyhavetothinkaboutanddowiththeirbowstoachievethis
sound(fastbowspeed,closertothebridge,leanintothestring).

2.TheteacherwillaskthestudentswhattherelativeminorofBbisandhowtofindit(thisisreview).Thestudentswill
playtheGminorscale,piano,eighthnotes,staccato.Theteacherwillaskthestudentshowtoachievethissound(close
tothefingerboard,lessbowweight,slightbounceinthebow)

3.TheteacherwillprojectHungarianDanceNo.5ontheSmartBoard.Thestudentswillreviewmeasures117andfocus
ondynamiccontrast.Theteacherwillaskthestudentswhattheyhavetodowiththeirbowsatthebeginningofthe
pieceandwhattheymustchangeatmeasure13toplaypianoandstaccato.Thestudentswilltrymeasures117afew
timestoengrainthechangeinbowusageanddynamiccontrastintheirplaying.Afterwards,thestudentswillcontinue
ontomeasures1733,whichisarepetitionofthemainthemebutwithamoredifficultfingeringwhichtheteacherwill
checkinonprogressandreviewifneeded.

4.TheteacherwillplaytheYouTubevideoofHungarianDanceNo.5conductedbyGustavoDudameltoshowthe
studentsdynamiccontrastandtheprofessionalplayers'bowusage.Theteacherwillemphasizetheswellsthatoccur.

5.Thestudentswillfocusontheswellsinmeasures77101,creatinggreaterdynamicinterestbybeginningeachswell
withaslowbowspeedthatgraduallyspeedsup.Theteacherwillmodelhowtheswellsshouldbeplayed.Thestudents
willpracticeontheiropenAstringswiththeteacher.Thenthestudentswillplaythroughmeasures77101focusingon
theswells.
