The essay talks about the negative effects illegal immigration has on the United States.

While the thesis of the essay suggest that this turmoil is due to U.S. policy, one could argue that

the author uses his dominant discourse to portray his underlying intent. This intent is to degrade

the idea of illegal immigrants and this can be seen in the authors diction as he depicts these

individuals in a negative light through his argument on U.S. policy. Many who have nomadized

to the United States have failed to follow these laws. Currently there are approximately 12

million undocumented residents in the United States. This means there are possibly 12 million

individuals who are present in the United States that are dependent upon its resources without

contributing to the system. This form of writing denotes the idea and argument the author is

trying to make, yet it does highlight his way of thinking and how he feels towards the people

instead of U.S. policy. In the excerpt, the writer stresses the number of illegal immigrants that

live within the country. Although there could possibly be some truth to the statement, this is more

of a focus on the people rather than the overall issue the writer intends to get across. This form of

literacy The author uses informal language in reference to illegal immigrants such as aliens

and these people. If one chooses to argue that U.S policy is the reason for the devastation that

we see financially in terms of illegal immigration, then ones argument should show that and

depict that idea. Yet, here in this situation one can see that the author stems away from his

thesis in an attempt to attack people and not policy. This can be seen in todays society with

President Trump. He talks about building a wall to help enforce the deportation and stabilization

of the number of illegal immigrants entering the United States. Much like the author, President

Trump sees U.S. policy as an issue as to why our resources are so easily accessible, slowly

depleting and why there are financial struggles throughout the country in reference to the topic

of illegal immigrants. President Trump then goes on to modify or amend U.S policy to enforce

changes that sets harm to these individuals.

The author embodies mushfaking in his supporting evidence on education depletion. It is

evidence that do not in any way support the authors idea, but creates a false sense of urgency

that many people have on the situation. One could raise the question on how could illegal

immigrants deplete education resources when there are set standard procedures for

background checks for registration in most schools. The forms of identification that is collected

during registration such as social security numbers, birth certificates, and proof of state

residency refutes that idea of secretly getting through the system. The author creates a

discourse in which the formality of his argument seems more of a personal matter and belief. It

makes the reader question if this is a connection with the authors primary discourse? What

influences or inspirations did the author have to write on such a topic? Is this this a result of

political and economic ignorance?
