Lesson Introduction
Whole group activity: Time 10 minutes

Each student will have a small box and inside each
one different shapes.
Each student will say what shapes they have.

On the carpet each student will have

Small Group Learning Centers: Time 20 minutes


Learning Center 1 Title: Shape hunt Learning Center 2 Title: Mystery box
Students will go on a shape hunt in the classroom. Learners will run their fingers around the shapes
Students will match the shapes by stick the flashcards Students will talk about what they are touching
on the right shape. Children will try to guess which shape they are
feeling.

Learning Center 3 Title: Sorting shapes Learning Center 4 Title: clay


Learners will sort the shapes by their characteristics Students will make different shapes by using clay

Closing activity: Time: 5 minutes


Remind the students about the learning outcomes by using kid friendly language.
Play Shapes Song on the interactive whiteboard.
Ask the students to think about the different shapes.
Ask the students about what they learn and discuss with them about what they did in the learning centers.
Invite the students to describe the shapes by their lines and corners. Invite the students to think of other things they
could do with shapes.
Ask your students to volunteer what they will tell their parents about the lesson.
Compliment the students on their hard work!
Optional Closing Activity: Read Brown Rabbit's Shape Book by Alan Baker.

Assessment for Learning:


I will observe students knowledge and skills during the activity. Look for students who
need support. Sit closer to them and give clues and encouragement.
Make a check list with their names and write a comments behind each one. For example;

Firstly, discuss one aspect that YOU feel you did very well. Try to analyze
why you think it worked well and what hints you would share with other teachers
about the successful strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.

What went very well is I used two clearly learning objectives. This led to not loss the
students in the lesson.

Children were interested because they have enough information about the concept.

Secondly, elaborate on the aspect identified by YOU that requires attention.


Discuss what the problem was, why it occurred and what action you intend to
take to be more successful in the next lesson.

What not went well is the transition again. Because this time I used counting from 0
to 10 and children start repeating the numbers after me because they think that Im
revision the counting lesson.

Personal focus for next lesson:

When I teach in the next lesson I will use the bell again to manage the students.
