Son: Hm, I m not sure. Terri wants me to paint the shutters this Saturday.
What a project!

Tu as vu a! B a

Son: Okay. 'Il figure something out white we're watching. Wow, look at
that! Aw, he dropped it! That was a sure score!
Father; They pay those guys enough, you d think that they could at least
hold onto the ballI Fight into his hands!
dimanche.
Son; They never should have let Rouet go. H e wasn i fast, but he could s u it
make the circus catches. Maybe I ll call Tetri and tell her that y o u r e giving
me a bad time about not being able to go on Saturday. I could do the shut-

! missed her. See you on Saturday.

Janice: Yes, but when would we go? I f we go in summer i t s too hot and in
spring there is too much rain.
WUUam: Well, maybe we could go in autumn. I t s really pretty then and
quite a bit cheaper.
5
Janice: Chri, tu es srieux? Vraiment?
Janice: Honey, you mean It? Really? Bui thats going to make it even more
expensive. Unless... maybe she would payfor her own ticket? O f course she
would!
Sylvie: Oui.
Sylvia: Yes.
Sylvie: Trs bien, merci!
Sylvia: Just great! Yourself? Albert get back from his trip?
Mirlelle: Oh, yes, A lberts back I m fine, but he got in late last night In a
bad mood. Those business trips always get to him. Too much eating out In
restaurants you know. I 'm fixing a super home-cooked meal fo r him right
now.
6
Sylvie: Ah oui, je sais bien! Cest pareil pour Jean.
Sylvia: Boy do I know! John is just the same.
7
BIU: You sure this is the place? Seems kind o f fancy fo r a Pizza place. nd
where are we going to park? The place is jammed!
Jennie: Voil, quelquun l-bas qui sen va. L-bas, derrire, droite! Vite,
Jenny: There's someone going out over there. Over there, around to the
right. Quick! Grab it before that other car pulls in!
Jenny: Dinner's are halfprice tonight. That's probably why. it's their grand
opening special.
Father: I know, that's what's going to get us through the day! I'll check oui
the stuff in the boat. Be sure and bring my hat out o f the front seat. M y old
bald head is going to bum fo r sure otherwise.
Do you want your dark glasses too? It s going to be really bright
out there. I think I'll bring my trunks. A little dip after lunch would really
fee l good.
brler.
Father: Okay, but you 'd better bring your sunscreen with you. You ll be
burnt to a crisp otherwise.
San: Or the fish hooks, or gasoline or fish bag or whatever we forgot last
time! We should make up a standard master list o f everything and check It
out before we even gel in the van to leave.
Allons-y! Je seas dj les
poissons mordre lhameon!
Father: That i a good idea. Now lei s hope that we catch enough fish to need
a bag! lM 's shove off. / can ju st feel those fish biting nowl
pari!
Father: I hate to lake your money, son, but you >e on!

Mother: Do you think have everything we'll need1 1've never been on a
cruise ship before I don t really know i f I've made the right choices on
my clothes.
10
Ja n ice Don't worry Mother. This is a vacation anyway I m sure they
have plenty o f shops on board as well as In the ports we slop at. in case you
forgot anything
William: With as many suitcases as we have in this car. we better have every
thing we need! I hope the ship doesn 'l sink when we board!
laisses tien derrire toit
William: It's not that you pack too much dear, it's ju st that you don't leave
anything behind!
La mre: Oh, regardez! Cest notre bateau! B semble tellement plus grand
que sur les brochures.
Mother: Oh, look! There's our ship! It's looks so much larger than in the
brochures.
Janice: Oh, o les ai-je mis? Hmm, laissez moi rflchir ... j'tais telle
Janice: Oh. where did 1 put them? Hmm. Let me think . . . I was so worried
about locking everything up and making the last minute checks around the

mare on a Saturday afternoon at this time o f year.
12
Mlritile: I 'm glad you "re driving after all. I'm just not very lucky at finding a
good parking place at these crowded shopping malls. All those shoppers ku/i-
dering around trying to remember where they parked It's so distracting.
Sylvie: Nous n'auroos q u' tre patientes.
Sylvia: W eil ju st have to be patient. With shoppers coming and going all
day, a good spot will probably open up.
13
BUi: Probably. Tons o f cheese on everything. Look as the size o f that pizza
she brought over there! That's enough fo r both o f us. I wonder i f we can split
one? Cheese isn't supposed to be on my diet.
Jenny: Well, I know you. I'll bet you 'll eat the whole thing and have dessert

Terrible service. They don Vhave their act together yet.

Us fument tous. La cuisine a intrt d'tre bonne!
Jenny: That's fo r sure. They haven't even brought silver or water. Not even

right over there theyr e all smoking. The food better be good!

Father: / know. I've been going to hat lake fo r over forty years and I've

Well he might be a possibility. The only problem is that he
was sort o f hinting about joining us It would be kind o f awkward now to get
him involved in cleaning. We also have to wash out the boat and store all the
gear

Lori: I don 'f think we should think about that now it may be a long time

Your boss can t do anything about that

Millie: Goodness. Elsie, worn tires can be real dangerous.

Elsie: Well it was ju st too much o f a struggle to fix them in the winter. I dtd-

I n n : Out. si tu veux

Ivm: Sure, look around some more. We ju st had it inspected fo r termites

I,Me: Lanons le club des femmes contre eux. Elles ont encore un peu de

Hfsie: Welt, let's get the Women's Club after them. They still have some clout

presque compltement sourde. Je devrais vraiment aller chez elle.
I.tsie: Heavens, she could have told Maude, and it would have been better
than me calling. Maude is very hard to talk to on the phone. She's almost
Itiiully deaf. I really should ju st go on over to her house.
Millie: Si tu y vas, fais attention ses horribles chiens. Ils mont presque

I lsie: Well, we 're not getting any younger these days, but Maude, even i f she

proper results from our city government We need to act together now.
45
Millie: Maybe your daughter, Jenny, would help too. She 's an active pet\
son with good intelligence.

toujours me rejoindre Phoenix.
Elsie: Well, I wouldh't bet on it. Jenny is kind o f a free thinker herself, an
besides sh e s friends with a lot o f those business folks who are fo r all th^

Ed: Cest bien a quil faut dire! Vraiment rien du tout. La pression,|

Ed: You called that one right! Really nothing. Pressure, pressure. Whatj

Roger: My plan is to put il right in the cup and shut that mouth o f yours, period!
Roger: No. I don t want to double the bet. Just stand back quietly over there
gel your shadow out o f my line and stop talking! You are about to wit-

Roger: I have a very warm feeling about this putt. M y only concern Is that
