In this article, Goto explores the question How Does Art Influence People? he
examined the credible works of others who have wrote articles pertaining Ito the subject. Goto
shows the different views people have on how art can affect someone. One of the people he
discusses in his article believes art can awaken someones imagination and allow that person to
overcome their fear of creating, while another believes that most people believe art is weird; This
article is a perfect example of how a piece of art can affect many people in different ways.

Lighting can be a very important aspect to ones artwork. In this article, Israel discusses
the importance of light through its symbolic meaning. Israels pulls many references from the
bible to portray the overall meaning behind light. Israel explains that light is the primary reason
for creation and it serves as a symbol of everything that is good and beautiful in the world.
This article provides an excellent overview of light and its significance and by knowing this
information I believe the location of my painting was chosen well because the light in that
Bear, Jacci. Color Symbolism for Graphic Artists. ThoughtCo : Computer Science
https://www.thoughtco.com/color-symbolism-information-1073947
Certain colors can have a major impact on the way we view things, but what do these
certain colors stand for or in other words what symbolism do they portray? In her article, Bear
tackles this question, she examines the symbolism of many different colors such as cool colors,
warm colors and neutral colors and how all these different shades mean something different. She
states that color symbolism is used to provoke physical reactions in people. She goes on to
validate her points by describing the differences in all cool, warm, mixed warm and cool, and
neutral colors. Cool colors have a calming affect over you, while warm colors make you want to
get up and do something, however when you take characteristic from both warm and cool colors
to create a color such as purple both calm and excite you. Neutral colors like gray, white and
black serve as great background colors because they draw your focus to the other colors. The
Cousins, Carrie. The Science behind Color and Emotion. Designshack: Aricles

Can color affect an individuals cognitive performance? Well in this article Cousins
discusses the science behind a persons emotional connection to color. She discusses several
studies throughout her article about different ways color can affect someone or if it even does. In
a study listed in her article at the University of British Columbia they explore the question Can
color impact your ability to create? and through their research they found that red can help
someone be more focused and accurate with their work, while blue is known for spurring
creativity. Cousins also goes on to talk about many other colors such as purple that invokes
glamour and charm and yellow that depicts fun. This article is useful for me because the colors I
used on my painting all give the perception of something different, my blues means creativity
and the purples intertwine to show glamour while the piece of yellow ties it all together for a fun
aspect.
Carrillo de Albornoz, M.A. & Fernandez, M.A. The Symbolism of Wings. New Acropolis
International Organization: Article
http://library.acropolis.org/the-symbolism-of-wings/
In this article Albornoz and Fernandez analyze the symbolic meaning behind wings. Their
reasoning for the symbolism behind wings comes many different culture types such as Hindus,
Ancient Egypt, pre- Columbian and Christian traditions. The Hindus tradition believes a set of
wings means freedom to leave earth behind. In the ancient Egypt culture, they believe that
winged gods were protectors and that protected creatures by covering them with their wings.
Completely opposite to Ancient Egypt the pre-Columbian tradition associates wings with the sun
and the bird, which is a symbol for regeneration, the wings of the bird allow it to fly from one
world to another. Like the pre-Columbian culture the Christian culture also associates wings with
the sun and finally, in ancient Greece, the Greeks showed love and victory with wings. This
article is very helpful to me because my painting is a pair of wings and the meaning behind the
painting could represent so many different things depending on what culture you want to look at
it through.
