Team Charter

Broad Team Goals

1. Learn how to think and work as a team.

2. Explore useful tools that will help with being a technical communicator.

3. Improve professional writing for life in the work force

Measurable Team Goals

1 Meet all specific requirements, standards listed in the syllabus, or suggested by Professor

Szczepaniec-Bialas in class.

4. Experience summarizing a report paper with technical tools that help both editing and

communication.

5. Meet all individual goals, as listed below, while preparing a strong paper as a team.

Personal Goals

1 Jiamin: write concisely in a technical tone and avoiding awkward word choices.

6. William: write concisely by avoiding wordiness and focusing on the topic at hand and to

form a strong structure for the presentation of the ideas in the paper.

7. Drew: expand writing vocabulary and prepare for writing in the professional world.

Individual Commitment

1 Jiamin will spend enough hours on this assignment, check ELMS for messages and

comments in time, and go to Professor Szczepaniec-Bialass office hours for inputs.

8. William commits to conducting research for our topic, asking and helping create questions

for the interview, and editing anything and everything before it is submitted.

9. Drew: devote plenty of time to this assignment, make sure he has put forth his best effort in

assignments, and offer feedback on team members work, if they request it.
Other Concerns

Jiamin is concerned that her poor skills with digital tools might affect her work, but she will

try her best to learn how to use them well.

William is concerned with his time-management skills and staying on top of all the different

segments of the project.

Drew is concerned that he will procrastinate and not finish his work in time. He will write

down deadlines and ensure he is doing his part punctually.

Conflict Resolution

Since all team members are students in economics, we might hold different interpretations of

certain topics. When that happens, we will first go to the writer, or research to see if we can get

more information to settle our disagreement. If it requires more conciliation, we will go to a

professor, either one from our department or Professor Szczepaniec-Bialas for suggestions.

Missed Deadline

In case of missed deadlines, we will refer to the syllabus schedule when planning our team

schedule, so that the rest of the team will have enough time to make up the missed part. When a

team member misses a submission, the rest of the team will contact him or her at first to figure

out the reason. If that person cant be found, the rest of the team will report to Professor

Szczepaniec-Bialas for further instructions.

Unacceptable Work

First, to avoid such an outcome, each member will be asked about his or her plans to complete

assigned works. The team will also assign parts of the project to each member based on their

abilities and interests, to give each member more positive incentives for good work.
When unacceptable work may occur, team members should talk to the submitter to see whether

he or she needs help with their specific parts, or if there are further issues. If necessary, team

members will go to Professor Szczepaniec-Bialas for a final settlement.
