College is a privilege not a right.

Most people dont realise it, but you do have to earn the
privilege to go to college. However, your admission into a university should be solely based on
your academic or extracurricular accomplishments. However, one of the most controversial
issues when dealing with college admissions, has come to the rise. Colleges are now allowed to
consider race and gender when considering a student for admission. This is a big controversy
because race and gender has nothing to do with how someone will be able to perform in school.
Some people are for it and argue that it will bring a lot of diversity and different culture to the
school. I think that you should only be able to consider aspects of student that has something to
do with their accomplishments in or outside of school. There are many valid arguments as to
why you may consider race when looking at potential students, it does make the school more
culturally diverse, but it doesnt have anything to do with how they might perform academically.
Gender is also something that they look at, and I think that they should be looked at equally.
Someone should not be considered more if they are are male or a female. This should concern
you because someone who may be more qualified than others may be passed up because they
may not be a certain gender or race.
