1 I'm not sure if they are, but there wasn't an option of I Don't know. 4/5/2017 2:13 PM
2 Most district and site PD revolves around core curriculum. Outside art training and professional development can be 4/5/2017 12:26 AM
provided, but is not currently a focus.
3 The need for academic professional development are substantial. 4/3/2017 9:03 PM
4 I am unaware of any provided training scheduled at this time. Non-arts instructors do have the option to submit 4/3/2017 8:24 PM
individually selected professional development opportunities for approval at any time.
6 As a school leadership team we set the focus for PD within our school year, this year we have focused on school 4/3/2017 5:27 PM
climate and while creating art may be a component of increasing school climate it hasn't been a focus.
7 Opportunities are not specifically provided at the site, but there may be district offerings. 4/3/2017 2:14 PM
8 At this time, the focus is teachers implementing new curriculum and covering the standards around ELA. Teachers are 3/31/2017 11:31 AM
also using collaboration time to discuss Math curriculum and strategies.
12 As an administrator I am unsure of which PD opportunities to provide teachers with access to. 3/30/2017 4:31 PM
13 Our budget limitations to this point have dictated that our PD has to have a direct connection to improved student 3/30/2017 4:26 PM
achievement. The amount of PD that we receive as a result, in combination with district PD around PLC and OGLR,
puts us at a high number of days that teachers are missing not including sick days or PD they attend outside the
scope of our schoolwide commitments. In addition, it is only this year that I have been introduced to ways in which to
justify arts PD through the lens of a academic achievement in other content areas.
15 It's not really offered, and they go to a lot of training in other core areas. 3/30/2017 2:19 PM
16 Teachers are invited to attend any professional development of interest- however, to my knowledge, none have 3/29/2017 4:32 PM
elected to participate in PD on incorporating arts into the classroom.
18 Our art docent program is run as a volunteer group who comes into classrooms to lead art lessons. Our classroom 3/27/2017 1:00 PM
teachers often incorporate art into other projects lessons they are leading.
19 We are not aware of what trainings are available for them to attend. 3/27/2017 10:28 AM
20 Teachers are able to attend professional development and training on incorporating arts into the classroom, though it 3/27/2017 8:44 AM
is not
21 This is our first year. We have had other PD trainings that have taken priority. It is something we look to incorporate 3/27/2017 7:51 AM
into the future!

36 1. Little time in the packed curriculum. 2. I'm not aware of any such PD being offered. 3/21/2017 5:11 PM
40 Don't know where to find opportunities and don't have funding to pay for them to attend 3/20/2017 11:47 AM

45 Our arts docent delivers STEAM-focused art instruction to all students, multiple times a year. While not literally arts- 3/20/2017 11:04 AM
based professional development, all classroom teachers are present during the art docent sessions in which she
explicitly teaches students the thematic structure of the art instruction and references enrichment opportunities that
could take place in the classroom. The focus of our professional development this year has been implementing our
STEAM vision through the use of FOSS curriculum and kits.

K-6 ARTS ASSESSMENT SURVEY
57 On average, about 200 students are provided arts instruction during the school year as par of the school day. Music 3/22/2017 7:52 AM
and visual arts have been the main arts instruction our students have had over the past few years. However, our music
teacher retired last year and we no longer offer music instruction during the school day.
58 191 intermediate students; 268 students as the teacher incorporate into their instructional plan in the units of study; 3/22/2017 7:09 AM
198 students sing along with recorded music on a weekly basis; 144 students receive music (singing along with a
musician only) on a weekly basis
59 We would like them to do it once a week or every other week. We do have a four week watercoloring class that a 3/22/2017 7:04 AM
teacher does after school.
60 0 3/21/2017 10:35 PM
61 This is a difficult question to answer because students use drawing enhance stories, or students will create projects 3/21/2017 9:14 PM
with some art components. Teachers will also use photos in some of their lessons, however nothing comes with
formal arts instruction. So, I would probably say 0 students are provided arts instruction during the school year. We do
have an after school music program that serves about 50 of our 725 students.
62 Students in grades 1-6 get music for 45 minutes twice a week. Most schools get PE instead. Middle school students 3/21/2017 5:14 PM
get 1 quarter of Art elective (PTA-paid) per year. Anything else is offered after school, for fee.
63 Certain classes do art projects when students receive arts instruction but it is up to the teacher and opportunities are 3/21/2017 4:52 PM

75 We have an art teacher who provides "prep" time for our 1st through 6th grade teachers one 45-minute period per 3/20/2017 1:38 PM
week. Thus, approximately 510 students are provided art instruction during the school day. In addition, gen ed
classroom teachers provide art instruction for another 50 students.
78 Based on our Waldorf curriculum and methods, 100% of our students get an arts opportunity during their school day. 3/20/2017 12:00 PM
We must rely on parent donations and fundraisers to ensure this continues to happen.
79 If it is arts instruction...then none. Teachers may find ways to imbed art related activities into their practice, but I 3/20/2017 11:49 AM
wouldn't call that arts instruction.
80 25 3/20/2017 11:36 AM

51 Maybe 2-3 times a year we have assemblies where all kids are exposed. 3/22/2017 2:18 PM
52 This year, all students will have some opportunity through the Crocker Art Ark, art teacher lessons, field trips to 3/22/2017 10:47 AM
performances, or the Crocker Art Museum.
53 Some grades went to a play at the beginning of the year (one field trip). 3/22/2017 7:23 AM
55 1 3/21/2017 10:36 PM
56 We have had 1 history "play" and 1 music and math assembly. In addition, half of our classes have attended 1 field trip. 3/21/2017 9:21 PM
I would say every student has had arts exposure throughout the day.
57 Just plays (we send 1st graders to B St. Theater) We used to go to the Junior League play, but the district cut off 3/21/2017 5:19 PM
funding for the bus. No other art-related field trips.

59 The general education teachers incorporate art into many of their lesson plans, especially in the areas of language 3/21/2017 1:13 PM
arts and social studies.
64 1-2 assemblies and K-3 attend the Junior League Theatre. 3/20/2017 5:41 PM
65 0 3/20/2017 4:28 PM
66 Depends on the grade level and classroom. Primary grades tend to offer more art exposure, about 1-4 times per 3/20/2017 4:03 PM
month. Intermediate grades offer arts exposure less frequently, around 0-2 times per month.
68 Author reads to students to kick off Young Author's Project PTC sponsors two theatrical performance, per year 3/20/2017 2:33 PM
Students have artists in residence, Art Links, band, Blues Band, art/theatre extensions in classroom units. 1-3 have art
rotation, twice a week for thirty minutes K-3 have morning singing program, twice a week
69 5-7--We normally have approximately 5 assemblies/performances on campus; most classes also go on a couple of 3/20/2017 1:44 PM
field trips to see performances, or to museums, etc.
71 Too many to describe based on Waldorf methods it is embedded into each lesson. 3/20/2017 12:03 PM
74 Several concerts, some performances and art projects are offered. 3/20/2017 11:29 AM
75 Our dance group dances for school and community events. 3/20/2017 11:18 AM
76 The biweekly exposure of students to art through docent instruction, combined with in-class projects and field trips 3/20/2017 11:14 AM
would result in approximately 50 exposures per student.
77 2 3/20/2017 11:09 AM
78 Multiple (hard to enumerate). These include music in the classroom, performance assemblies, in-class projects, and 3/20/2017 11:01 AM
field trips.
81 This varies by grade but averages about 1 per year. Some grade levels have up to three. 3/20/2017 8:54 AM

32 0-1: Measuring on a monthly basis is challenging since school wide exposure is better measured on a yearly basis. As 3/28/2017 9:43 AM
stated in previous responses, we have only been able to provide 1-2 school wide assemblies per year and only 1 field
trip per year.

4 A delivery model that has minimal impact on our instructional minutes. 3/30/2017 4:33 PM
6 The biggest issue is time, to plan, to deliver art instruction, and hiring someone may not provide the intended outcome. 3/27/2017 9:09 AM
Creating more compliance would become complicated. Perhaps the best solution would involve integrating art
Standards into other areas, or creating cross curricular instruction to satisfy the needs of all content areas (Genre
Studies or Project based learning).

12 Time is the main constraint for arts instruction. The teachers have such a difficult time fitting all that needs to happen 3/21/2017 1:53 PM
for the students in academically during the school day that art integration will be left our of the lesson because there is
a lack of time.
13 Schools need a three tier system led by a coordinator of how to increase arts education. Funding needs to follow. 3/20/2017 2:36 PM
District vision and social capitol is the most critical component.
14 Give each school the money to hire a professional who can do music, drama and art 3/20/2017 11:39 AM
15 Hire teachers to go around and teach art at cluster schools. We do not need a Lead person just for art. Unless it is paid 3/20/2017 11:02 AM
