The Gaz Band systems produced by the firm S.C. PRO AUTO Industries S.A., after the ICECHIM
TRANSGAZ licence and consented by MLPAT Romania and INCERC, have been used during the
years 1999-2001 for insulation both the new pipelines and the rehabilitation of those existent.

In the year 2000 the Gaz Band systems have been used to insulate the DN 1200 x 5.4 Mpa Ukraina-
turkey pipeline, on the part which transitates Romania (Isaccea- Negru Voda) as well as to insulate the
pipeline for the areas where the stress class of the soil required it.

The tests have confirmed the good behavior in time the insulation systems, even in severe conditions.
Although temperatures more than 50C have been recorded, the diametre of the pipeline being
relatively large, the stress class of the soil being of B and C type, the insulation had very good adherence.

As the belt welding insulation for the pipeline reconstruction, at the weldings performed in the field after
digging out the the pipeline at more than 48 hours after its burring, an increase of insulation adherence
was observed.

Based on the results obtained in the year 2000, SNTGN Research Division during the year 2001
has drawn up and approved the insulation projects for metallic pipes destined to gaz transmission, for
works which exceed 500.000 m2, work checked and performed till this date.

The tests, both those of study and those of acceptance, have proved remarcable qualities of the Gaz
Band systems (high adherence to metal, high resistance to the cathodic detachement, high security
owing to the electrical and chemical resistance of the band GBPM type which offers the necessary
protection during the transport and manipulation).

In conclusion the tests performed by us the possitive observations of the users, recommand the use of
Gaz Band system of anticorrosive protection of the underground metallic pipelines.
