Creative Commons

Creative Commons creates a networked public sphere that allows the non-
commercial transmission of knowledge and serves as an alternative to
exorbitant licensing schemes dominated by multinationals.
There have been several major shifts in predominant industrial
powerhouses in economically advanced countries.
1. The diminishing importance of production of physical goods such as
garments, automobiles and the emergence of information and
communication goods such as films, freeware. Nowadays, due to the
widespread utilization of Creative Commons licences, videoclips,
soundtracks and blockbusters could be shared on Youtube, Dailymotion
and other websites so long as the utilization of these cultural tools are
non-commercial and educational.
2. Dominant communication system has shifted from a centralized, for-
profit approach such as cable television and national telecommunication
channels to a more decentralized and people-owned information sharing
mechanism such as alternative news organizations, blogosphere and
Facebook groupings.
Peer-to-peer sharing platforms like emule and torrent are becoming more
popular among the middle-class and the younger generation in the Euro-
American and East Asian societies since electronic materials are far
cheaper alternatives (such as the Creative Commons licensing schemes)
to copyrighted ones. Globalization has also made the segment of middle
class in affluent countries less financially secure and reducing the
employment prospects for them---society is progressing towards lesser
degree of wealth inequality. Troubled by financial insecurity and
employment instability, the middle class starts searching for cheaper
alternatives for their source of electronic entertainment.

The image above shows that a torrent file sharing program is running.
Torrent file sharing mandates that all materials shared must be
copyrighted at least in the form of Creative Common licensing schemes.
Dailyshow tonight, Fox and Friends, and Steven Colbert were once pay-per-
view TV channels, but now they have all been made freely available
online. News organizations in charge of these channels are now facing
assaults from alternative source of online TV channels such as Seeker
Daily, Aljazeera, Test Tube News and Sputnik, all of which are just of good
quality as those for-profit news networks.

Creative Commons is the precursor of contemporary symbiotic internet

information sharing culture. Global internet news organization such as
Aljazeera has since penetrated the cable news network and position itself
as a direct competitor to NBC and MSNBC, but without any expenditure
incurred.

The table above exhibits the seven most popular Creative Commons
licenses, all of which could be used by public institutions such as schools,
research centers, non-profit organizations, and perhaps even by medical
personnel in public hospitals to enhance the welfare of the human race.
Creative Commons provide a cyber-corridor outside the proper of the
market economy for various social groupings of people to be prosumers as
well as produsers in the creation of knowledge with honors accredited to
the original authors and the promotion of a symbiotic and mutually
beneficial social culture.
Moreover, creative commons provide impoverished people and the middle
class with much needed legal assistance if there are unable to afford to
hire a lawyer in emergency occasions. They could obtain multimedia
disseminated knowledge through the creative commons licensing schemes
and become DIY legal experts and subsequently extend their assistance to
families in dire need of legal advice.
A wide range of free software and ultra-cheap electronic gadgets provide
people living in economic misery a path out through free virtual education
schemes. India and Pakistan are the most backward countries in terms of
economic achievement, but millions of poor people still have access to
copyrighted academic materials through Creative Commons licensing
schemes and that is perhaps the most crucial reason behind the fact that
both countries are the main sources of cybertechnology and as well as in
the medical arena(copyrighted medical practices are also sharable) .
As for academics, students who are studying at tertiary institutions are
often broke and they are constantly on a tight budget, coursebooks used
by instructors are often regarded as luxury goods by the students, creative
commons licensing schemes could be deployed in such scenario to assist
academics who are unable to obtain the materials they need.
