Economic analysis of NHPC

TARIFF RATES
The tariff of NHPC Power Stations is determined by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission
(CERC) as per Tariff Regulations issued from time to time. At Present, CERC Terms &
Condition of Tariff Regulation, 2014 is applicable for the period 2014-19. Based on notified
tariff order /petitions submitted for tariff, the Annual Fixed Charges (AFC) and composite tariff
of 19 Power Stations for FY 2016-17 are as under:

BILLING
Billing is done centrally at the Corporate Office on monthly basis in accordance with the
CERC Tariff regulations 2014 in vogue and as per the tariff notification issued by CERC for
that particular power station from time to time. Payments are received directly through
transfer to NHPC account/through Demand Draft/ Cheques.A surcharge @ 1.5% per month
is levied if the payments are not made by the beneficiaries beyond a period of 60 days from
the date of billing as per CERC Tariff Regulation 2014.
DISRIBUTION OF POWER

NHPC is supplying power to 28 number of beneficiary / distribution companies. The list of


beneficiaries/ distribution companies are as under;

Operating Power Stations NHPC is operating 20 Power Stations with installed capacity
of 5171.2 MW and annual design energy of 21790 MU. The expected revenue from
these power stations during financial year 2016-17 is 6949.00 crores. The Power
Stations of NHPC are located in Northern, Eastern and North-Eastern regions of the
