Teaching Philosophy

As a future educator, I aim to sustain knowledge and inspire learning. In specific, as an artist, I

will introduce powerful works of art and help students articulate their responses in the hopes of

making them independent listeners and thinkers. I will encourage students to engage in

discussions on the topic at hand, with me and amongst themselves. I want there to be an

exchange of intellectuality in my classroom.

Being a future art educator, I want my students to make connections. I want them to articulate

a clear and coherent artistic narrative: making connections between events, people, and

culture. I will use multiple intelligences to engage the entire classroom in order to have them

recognize their strengths and work on their weaknesses.

Its easy to fall for the warmth of art and I want them to do so with complete understanding. I

want them to comprehend space, perspective, relationship, and all the terms that come with the

basic understanding of art. When they attend an art museum, they'll be able to express their

aesthetic taste to someone or a group through the use of descriptive language. Also, I want my

students to question "mainstream" information; to look past the words to the people that

produced them, to think beyond what's being presented and adhere the context. If I can have my

students vision themselves in the place of their subjects, then I will be a bit closer to being a

successful educator.
