* What is FabFilter Pro-Q 2?

FabFilter Pro-Q 2 is a transparent, high-quality EQ plug-in for mixing and maste
ring purposes, with up to 24 bands and a gorgeous interface for easy and precise
editing. With its unique Natural Phase mode, it matches both the magnitude and
phase response of analog EQ'ing perfectly. Innovative features like Spectrum Gra
b and Full Screen mode together with its intelligent interactive EQ display make
Pro-Q 2 an absolute joy to use.
For more information, see www.fabfilter.com/products or refer to the Introductio
n chapter in the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 help file.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.10?

Improved EQ Match feature so you can save the input spectrum as a reference spec
trum. When opening EQ Match, you now have various choices to use as the referenc
e: a previously saved reference spectrum, the main plug-in input or the side cha
in input. This makes it much easier to set up and use EQ Match.
Added Permanent Spectrum Grab mode: click and hold in the spectrum area until th
e spectrum freezes and turns blue. You can now grab multiple peaks in the frozen
spectrum, unlike the regular Spectrum Grab mode which only allows you to grab a
nd adjust a single peak. Just click once on the background to exit Permanent Spe
ctrum Grab mode.
The frequency scale at the bottom of the interface now displays the frequency un
der the mouse cursor if you hover over the display or move the mouse slowly. If
the piano display is enabled, the key under the mouse cursor is highlighted and
its note number is shown. You can turn this on or off by clicking Show Frequency
On Hover in the Help menu.
Improved Avid S6 page tables mappings in the AAX plug-in, now more closely follo
wing Avid's conventions for a better workflow.
Added a workaround for a bug in Ableton Live on Mac that can cause the Q paramet
er for a band to be reset to its minimum value when dragging it around in the AU
plug-in version of Pro-Q 2.
Added a workaround for a bug in Ableton Live that causes latency compensation to
work incorrectly when loading a session that sets the parameters such that the
plug-in doesn't have latency, in combination with a default preset that does int
roduce latency. This only occurred with the VST plugin format and caused Live to
use the latency from the default preset.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.07?

Fixed issues with macOS Sierra on the new MacBook Pro (Late 2016) with Touch Bar
, that could cause the host to become unresponsive or crash after exiting Full S
creen mode or closing a plug-in window.
Fixed a bug that made it impossible to change the Q when dragging with the Cmd/C
trl key held down right after creating a new band.
Fixed a small issue that could cause an incorrect Q change direction while dragg
ing with the Cmd/Ctrl key held down.
Fixed a crash when using spectrum grab if there are no unused EQ bands available
anymore.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.06?

Fixed a possible crash when controlling Band State parameters via MIDI Learn.
Improved mouse wheel behavior on Mac with a Magic Mouse to avoid unwanted mouse
wheel changes after dragging a curve in the display (especially with high/low-cu
t curves where this could change the curve slope). On Windows, fixed a problem t
hat made it hard to change the Q with the mouse wheel while dragging (e.g. in so
lo mode in Pro-Q 2).
Linked control changes using the Alt key now also work when using the mouse whee
l.
Fixed a bug that caused text with multiple lines (such as the help hint label) t
o miss the last line of text on macOS Sierra (10.12).
Improved mouse wheel behavior on Windows with stepped parameters, e.g. on drop-d
own buttons.
Added a workaround for a bug in macOS Sierra (10.12) that prevented the help fil
e from opening correctly. The help file is now displayed in a web browser rather
than the Help Viewer.
Fixed an issue in the AAX plug-ins that could cause loss of existing automation
data when writing automation in Automation Preview mode, for example when creati
ng or deleting bands in Pro-Q 2.
Fixed a bug in the AAX plug-ins that caused parameter values that are very close
to the default value to remain at the default value when loading a session.
Updated Windows help file to display correctly on High DPI monitors.
Fixed a bug in the VST3 plug-ins when restoring a session in FL Studio 12 using
a custom display scaling factor such as 125%: the plugin window could end up at
the wrong size.
Small bug fixes and improvements.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.05?

Restored support for Windows XP.
Added a workaround for a bug in Logic's AU validation tool on OS X 10.6 up to 10
.8 that could cause Logic to fail to recognize the AU plug-in.
Enabled High DPI support on Windows versions prior to Windows 8.1.
Fixed a bug in the VST3 version of the plug-in that could cause a crash in FL St
udio and possibly other hosts after removing a plug-in from a session or closing
a session.
Fixed a bug in the AAX plug-in that caused it to show up as '2' in Mini track vi
ew in Pro Tools, instead of 'Q'.
Various small bug fixes.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.04?

Improved High DPI support on Windows, now including 150% scaling.
The Audio Unit plug-in is now sandbox-safe, so it can be used in sandboxed DAWs.
The plug-in can now operate at any sample rate, without a maximum.
Improved Avid control surface page tables, now including support for the S6 rang
e.
Fixed possible audio drop-outs for specific Notch settings in Linear Phase mode
or when using Auto Gain.
Fixed an issue with keyboard handling in Pro Tools 12.2 or higher, which affecte
d Alt-clicking on a band in the EQ display.
Fixed an issue in the AAX plug-in when using it as 'Default EQ' in Pro Tools on
a stereo track (creating a multi-mono version instead of stereo).
Fixed possible crashes when using the plug-in in Final Cut Pro X (with the Backg
round Render option enabled).
In Pro Tools mini track view, Pro-Q 2 will now show its distinctive letter 'Q' i
nstead of the first letter 'P'.
Small bug fixes and improvements.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.03?

Fixed a bug that caused knobs and sliders to respond incorrectly to subtle mouse
movements while dragging on OS X and High DPI displays on Windows.
Fixed a bug in the VST 2 plugin (introduced in Pro-Q 2.02) that caused the Auto
Gain setting to always be set to Off when loading sessions saved with Pro-Q 2.01
.
Various small visual fixes and improvements.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.02?

Added Retina support on OS X and High DPI support on Windows.
Introducing Solo Gain. While soloing a band, you can now adjust the listening ga
in by moving the mouse up and down.
Fixed a bug that caused the Gain Scale slider (in the output section) not to wor
k in Linear Phase mode, and improved its behavior in Natural Phase mode.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2.01?

Improved the piano display: you can now drag multiple selected curves in paralle
l, and double-clicking the piano display creates a new curve at this position.
Improved solo mode for Bell and Notch filters to better isolate the frequency ar
ea of interest. When soloing Low/High-Cut filters, the Q value now always stays
the same, making it easier to just fine-tune the frequency.
Added support for displaying the current EQ curve in Avid's S6 control surface.
Fixed a bug in the Auto Gain feature: it would not correctly compensate bands th
at are in per-channel mode (L/R or M/S). For example, splitting a stereo band wo
uld double the auto gain effect. This now works as intended while preserving com
patibility with existing saved sessions. If you have a saved session that uses A
uto Gain, simply disable and re-enable Auto Gain to get the new behavior.
Fixed a bug in the VST3 plugin that could cause the sound to stay the same (not
using the new parameter values) after using Undo or loading a preset.
Fixed a bug in the VST3 plugin that caused the saved parameter state to be ignor
ed when opening a saved Audio Montage in WaveLab 8 (this fix is not needed for W
aveLab 8.5.10).
Fixed a bug in the VST3 plugin that caused the latency to be reported as zero wh
en opening a saved Audio Montage in WaveLab 8 and 8.5.
Fixed a bug in Natural Phase mode that could cause an incorrect frequency respon
se with some rare combinations of frequency and slope settings with Low Cut and
Notch filters.
Fixed a bug when double-clicking a control to enter a new value: clicking outsid
e the input box now accepts the new value while previously it would discard it.
Fixed a bug in the AU plugin: pressing Cmd+Q to quit the host while Pro-Q 2 was
in full screen mode would cause it to crash.
Fixed a bug when zooming out in the display when Analyzer Freeze is enabled: thi
s would create a large blob on the left side of the display in the analyzer.
Fixed a bug with Full Screen mode in the 32-bit VST2 plugin in Cubase on Mac OS
X when 'Always on top' was enabled: the plugin window would float on top of the
full screen window. In addition, keystrokes are now correctly passed to Cubase i
n this case (e.g. playback start/stop).
Small other bug fixes and improvements.

* What's new in FabFilter Pro-Q 2?

Introducing Natural Phase mode, which not only perfectly matches magnitude respo
nse of analog EQ'ing, but also closely matches the analog phase response. It del
ivers the most accurate frequency response and best sound quality, even at the l
owest frequencies and highest Q settings, without introducing noticable pre-ring
or a long latency!
Introducing Full Screen mode. With just the click of a button, Pro-Q 2 instantly
fills the whole screen, making super-precise adjustments easy and fast.
Introducing Spectrum Grab. Did you ever wonder how it would be if you could just
grab that obvious peak in the frequency spectrum analyzer? That's possible now!
Introducing slope support for all EQ filter shapes. Everyone is used to having d
ifferent slope options for low- and high-pass filters. But Pro-Q 2 introduces th
e unique option of having control over the slope of any EQ shape. So for example
, you can make ultra-narrow bell filters or very steep shelves. Also, Pro-Q 2 no
w supports filter slopes up to 96 dB/oct, including 18 dB/oct, 30 dB/oct, 36 dB/
oct and 72 dB/oct.
Highly improved linear-phase mode, now offering a better magnitude response whil
e avoiding possible artifacts in the lower resolutions. Also, frequency, gain or
Q changes in linear-phase mode will sound smooth, no zipper effects whatsoever.
This might sound trivial, but it's actually quite unique in linear-phase proces
sing!
Introducing new EQ shapes: Tilt and Band-Pass, in addition to the existing Bell,
High/Low Cut, High/Low Shelf and Notch filter shapes.
Introducing Auto Gain. When enabled, output gain is automatically adjusted to co
mpensate for the audible gain loss or increase introduces by the active EQ bands
.
Introducing Gain Scale, which can be used to scale the gain of all current EQ ba
nd (that have a gain setting, i.e. Bell and Shelf filters) between 0% and 200%.
Introducing Gain-Q interaction. When enabled, Q and gain influence each other in
a pleasant way often found in analog mixing consoles.
Introducing EQ Match mode, which can be used to automatically match the frequenc
y spectrum of a signal routed to the plug-in's side-chain input.
Introducing a piano display. When enabled, the frequency scale is replaced by a
piano display, via which band frequencies can be adjusted/quantized by clicking
and dragging.
Introducing phase-invert option.
Highly improved CPU optimization. Pro-Q 2 is more than twice as efficient as its
predecessor!
Improved analog magnitude matching in zero-latency mode.
Improved spectrum analyzer with 60 dB, 90 dB and 120 dB range settings, horizont
al zooming, freeze and tilt options, better smoothing and more speed settings.
Various interface enhancements, like multiple interface sizes and optional outpu
t level metering.
