Target II - Health Promotion: The Health Committee will promote health awareness in three areas:
Alzheimers disease, Stroke, and Mental Illness.
Target III - Family Strengthening: The Family Strengthening Committee will target critical issues
facing many families, including lack of food, shelter and financial means. This Committee will
focus on Childhood Hunger Initiatives and launch partnerships with local agencies, food banks
and community pantries. The Family Seasonal Wraps Program will be offered and the Committee
will collect and donate seasonal wraps for families in need. Fiscal Responsibility Programs will be
initiated as members work with partner organizations to help families increase their understanding
of budgeting, basic financial planning and the benefits of home ownership.
Target V - Global Impact: The Global Impact Committee will work to implement the UNA-USA
Global Classrooms Project to prepare todays youth for a global and complex society and host an
event in support of UN Day in October. This Committee will also support the sororitys Africare
partnership related to youth hunger initiatives on the continent of Africa.
AKAdemic Scholars: Each year the Ebony Pearls Foundation, Inc. awards up to $10,000 in
scholarships to Jackson area high school students.
Adopt-A-School (Brinkley Middle School): Rho Lambda Omega Chapter members serve as
volunteers hosting workshops on topics related to educational enrichment, character building, and
self-esteem. The chapter also supports ongoing programs of the school as requested by the Brinkley
Middle School Administration.
Adopt-A-School (Oak Forest Elementary): Rho Lambda Omega Chapter members serve as
volunteers and support the administration and teachers by hosting workshops on an array of
topics to enrich the fifth grade student population. The chapter supports the Dr. Seuss Read Across
America program in March and assists the students with the collection of canned goods to donate to
food pantries across the city of Jackson.
Ebony Pearls Foundation, Incorporated is the charitable arm of Rho Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. It is a 501(c)
(3) nonprofit organization and also maintains a current registration with the Mississippi Secretary of States Division of Charities.
