In the following dialog, you can select your protection type, but please note that if existing G4 license
settings are detected at this stage, they will be automatically retrieved and imported in KW.

Protection type

You can modify the path to your local license file by clicking on Change and pointing to the required folder.

To run the software with a hard key protection, a driver needs to be installed on your computer. It should be
automatically installed provided you have selected USB SafeNet protection and you have Administrator
privileges on your computer. If you have been given a Sentinel HL driverless USB dongle you do not require any
driver installation, you just need to plug the key to the computer so it is detected. Please do not connect your
hard key to your computer unless requested by the installation.

If the FlexLM server protection has been chosen, please specify the host name of your license server in the
following format: @hostname, or port@hostname. If unknown at the time of the installation, the server may
be specified later in the Licensing dialog.

The following dialog (below left) requires the name of the installation directory. The default location is
C:\Program Files\KAPPA\Workstation 5.12\. You can amend this path by clicking on Change and pointing
to the required folder. Click on Next to continue. The InstallShield Wizard will then be ready to install KAPPA
Workstation (below right). Upon confirmation, the installation is executed and the necessary files are copied
and decompressed.

WARNING: The final installation steps may take several minutes to complete. See screen below.
KAPPA Workstation is a .Net application, also referred to as Managed application. A managed application
comes in Microsoft Intermediate Language (MSIL) that is interpreted at execution time by the .Net runtime
environment. NGen (aka Native Image Generator) is executed by the installation to convert the MSIL into
machine code, producing a code that executes much faster since the MSIL to machine code conversion does
not need to be done anymore. The conversion from MSIL to machine code is however machine specific and
this is why it must be executed at installation time.

NGen optimization process

At the end of the installation and provided you have specified that you will be using a FlexLM local license, if
no valid license file is found on your computer, you will be prompted to request a Demo license (below). If you
agree, the DemoLicenseRequestForm.exe tool will be executed so your computer identification is retrieved by
this program. Since this tool is copied in your installation folder you will be able to request a Demo license at
any time after installation.

Once the installation is successful, you will be notified and proposed to run KW.

Setup complete

WARNING: KW must be started with the shortcuts we create. If one tries to recreate a shortcut, then every
time KW is started it will go through a discovery step to find the connected modules. The shortcut we create
has a special instruction on the command line (-f namely) to skip the discovery because we do it once during
the installation.

2. View / edit your protection settings after KW installation

To successfully launch KW modules, a valid license needs to be detected at each module startup.

As previously indicated during the installation steps, please note that if existing G4 license settings are detected
at installation time, they will be automatically retrieved and configured in KW.

The Licensing dialog accessed clicking on the USB icon located at the bottom right of the KW launcher allows
to configure, view and edit your licenses.

In this dialog, you may:

Define your licenses
View your protection settings
Rank your licenses
Update your USB port dongle
Define the path to the FlexLM license file
Define the FlexLM license server

Please refer to the KW on-line help while in the Licensing dialog for more details.

the computer.
Execute the HASPUserSetup.exe found by default in C:\ProgramData\KAPPA\Protection\SafeNetDrivers.
The Wizard will pop up, click on Next until the installation is completed.
