We are currently accepting applications for
our
Winter 2017 California-Mexico Dreamers
Study Abroad Program

The California-Mexico Studies Center (CMSC) is currently accepting

applications from DACA recipients to participate in our Winter 2017
California-Mexico Dreamers Study Abroad Program to study in the
Mexico City-Cuernavaca area from Dec. 22, 2017 to Jan. 14, 2018.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: During the 3-week travel-study
experience, the participating Dreamers will immerse into a
comprehensive language and cultural educational program at
the Centro Tlahuica de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural (CETLALIC)
Institute; which will consist of historical, cultural, linguistic, and
academic "ctedras" on social movements, the Mexican educational,
economic and political systems, various museum and archeological
visits, and also a home-stay living experience with Mexican host
families while attending CETLALIC.

Also, participating Dreamers will have the opportunity to conduct

independent travel and ethnographic research on their family
origins, which will allow Dreamers to visit their birthplace during the
Christmas-New Years break, and produce a 10-page ethnographic-
research paper based on their findings.

Dreamers living anywhere in the continental U.S. are welcome to

apply. Moreover, we encourage Dreamers from other countries than
Mexico to apply as well, as long as they are fluent Spanish-speakers,
given that the entire program will be taught in Spanish.

APPLICATION DEADLINE AND IMPORTANT DATES:

Apply online by JUNE 9, 2017

Submit a Personal Statement of Purpose essay and 2 letters of
recommendation by JUNE 16, 2017

The Call to Sanctuary (Short Film)

The Trump agenda calls for a rush on deportations. That means we

need a call to sanctuary now by keeping our communities safe and
speaking out louder than ever before. We can do this by advocating for
sanctuary, or safe zones, which refers to all kinds of immigrant friendly
laws, policies, and resolutions that share a common belief of protecting
people from deportation and keeping ICE out of local law enforcement.

In The Call to Sanctuary, we joined forces with the Indivisible Team and
the National Immigration Law Center to show, step-by-step, how to
create safety in your community. Together we can protect the most
vulnerable by pushing our cities and counties to take up Sanctuary and
uphold the constitutional rights of all. There is plenty that you can do:
Act now, act locally, with your faith community, or at school.

Dreamers' Campaign for INE Credential

Registration

Are you an immigrant of Mexican-origin currently living in the

United States? Did you know that you can get an INE Voting I.D.
for FREE?
An INE Credential is the most widely used form of identification in
Mexico, and it also allows Mexican citizens living abroad to vote in the
presidential elections in Mexico.

The CMSC and the California-Mexico Dreamers' Network (CMDNet)

launched the Dreamers' Campaign for INE Voting I.D. Registration, in
an effort to help Mexican-born Dreamers and their families obtain an
INE Voting I.D. (Credencial de Elector) as a civic education and
engagement project, and to promote voting rights of all Mexicans living
in the U.S. to increase their participation in Mexico's 2018 Presidential
and Mexico City's Jefe de Gobierno.

Help us spread the word by sharing our campaign flyers and the
following instructions manual so that more Mexican citizens living in the
U.S. can register for an INE I.D. card and vote in the upcoming
presidential elections in Mexico.
