Globalization is often used to describe the multiplicity of

interchanges between peoples or societies. Globalization implies

change because the societies that are interacting (and different
cultural groups within those societies) are impacted by, and have
to adapt to, the developing relationship. DISCUSS an example of
globalization within indigenous societies. . Your response should
describe each society in its own terms before being impacted by
globalization and how that culture or cultures interacted and
adapted to outside forces. ameasyred response should be at
least 425 words

The culture of consumerism has forced globalization on to indigenous societies. Deforestation,

the use of land for oil drilling, and the factories placed on the lands of the Natives has consumed
all their cultures and peoples. As societies of consumerism prosper, the indigenous lifeways pay
the price. This negative growth has been at the expense of many important and highly diverse
ecosystems, and the Indigenous peoples who live within them. Even national parks, biosphere
reserves, and the lands set aside for Indigenous peoples have been opened to mining and logging
in certain regions. Colonizing societies have become more aggressive as corporations look for
resources and untouched lands that the indigenous communities have protected. These
communities depend on their land for education, religion, food, and spiritual connections to
mother earth. These corporations tend to ignore the devastation that consumerism has brought
about to most indigenous groups whom live a life of simplicity and only satisfy their needs
without overconsuming. These people have respect for our planet and contribute the least to
global warming yet they pay the highest price; giving up their culture, traditional ways, and lands
belonging to their ancestors.
For example many Native Americans used their land for hunting and gathering. They
hunted bison and used every bit of it to eat, make clothing, weapons and even toys for the
children. They roamed around the plains looking for new places to settle to grow crops and have
a steady water source. They migrated with the seasons and even followed certain teachings of
their myths to find the center of the world in regards to their Gods. Their myths and religions
gave them a reason to live and never once did they exploit our natural resources to satisfy selfish
ways.
Globalization has negatively impacted many lives including ours. It has brought upon us
the deterioration of our planet earth and has left little hope to those indigenous communities that
depend on nature to keep their traditions alive.
