Handling precautions
Do not disassemble earth leakage relays or zero-phase sequence current trans-
formers.
Never test to confirm electrical shock safety with your hand or other part of
your body.
It is impossible to prevent electrical shocks between wires.
When measuring circuit insulation resistance or dielectric strength it is impossi-
ble to measure between wires, so always disconnect the leakage relay first.
There are no problems, however, between chargers and ground.
Do not test dielectric strength between control supply terminals or between ter-
minals for input from the ZCT. This could damage the leakage detect circuit.
Where there are excessive branches or where line length is excessive, a high-
sensitivity relay on the main circuit could result in false triggers by weighted
leakage. Select an appropriate current sensitivity.

Precautions in use
Always prepare mounting holes to specified dimensions and mount securely.
Connection terminal torque is 0.7 to 1.0 N m. Excess torque will damage termi-
nals.
Do not mount in sites subject to excessive heat.
Do not mount in sites subject to excessive vibration or impact.
Do not mount in sits subject to corrosive or flammable gas, ash, steam or salt,
or subject to water or oil spray.
Do not run dedicated ground lines through zero-phase sequence current trans-
formers
Always run the common wire for single-phase 3-line and triple-phase 4-line sys-
tems through the ZCT.
The straight portion of the thru-conductor should be as long as possible to en-
sure ZCT balancing.
Thru-conductors should be bundled with cable ties to prevent damage from
electromagnetic repulsion in the event of shorts.
Connection between earth leakage relay and ZCT should be with twisted wire to
avoid induction effects.
Earth leakage relays and ZCT should be at least 10 cm distant from trunks carry-
ing several thousand A or more, to avoid external magnetic field effects.
Load equipment should be grounded in accordance with local law and regula-
tion.

Maintenance inspection items

Always check operation with the test button prior to use. Press the test button
long enough to operate.
Check operation with the test button periodically, about once a month.
If the leakage relay activates, inspect the circuit and rectify the problem, then
turn power back on.
