ABSTRACT

This action research was conducted to help students improve their English proficiency

level of students through verbal skills and language games. The researchers see this

research is important because of the influence of the local dialect, mixed language and

the market language often used in everyday speech in schools and affect students'

writing skills. The focus of this research is to improve the oral skills of students in Malay

languages. Whereas the objective of this study was to increase the level of proficiency

of Malay students through oral skills while reducing the influence of dialect in learning.

Researchers use ApenS methods that lead students to learn while being entertained

while providing a new input in the vocabulary of students. Observation, checklists,

interviews and document analysis is a method used to collect data. Researcher used

triangulation of data sources and triangulation methods to revise the data. This increase

in study participants can be viewed through the min score increased from 4 percent of

study participants, namely 40.2% in the pretest and increased to 87.2% after the action

is carried out. The results showed that this ApenS method have a positive impact on

participants in the study increased the level of proficiency of Malay language through

verbal skills. The implementation of these actions give a new perception to the

researchers that teachers must be more creative in building the teaching and learning

more effective and interesting. Proposed follow-up study of the proposed research is to

increase the number of words, actions and to involve participants more study. Hopefully,

this study will benefit educators and researchers pedagogical practices.
